The Derwent Arms in Edmundbyers lies amongst stunning countryside, bordering both County Durham and Northumberland. A stone’s throw from Derwent Reservoir, Derwent Waterpark, and situated along the coast to coast cycle route, we are surrounded by endless breath-taking views and perfectly situated to explore everything that these two beautiful counties have to offer.

With a roaring log fire in the winter and ample outdoor space in the summer, The Derwent Arms provides the perfect place to kick off the walking boots and recharge after a day spent exploring or making the most of the first class grouse and pheasant shooting in the neighbouring areas. With traditional menus focusing on seasonal and local produce, and plenty of local ales available; come and visit us for an afternoon, Sunday lunch or stay all week. We are dog friendly and have six cosy bedrooms available all with their own en-suite and a separate apartment available for families or groups of up to six people.

Very tasty slightly different flavours in beautifully cooked Sunday lunch. Happy helpful staff. My request to be away from the doors was fully considered. Lovely lunch. Will allow more time to enjoy next time, we had to push on this time.😋😋😋

Nice staff help staff with comfortable seating area. Reasonable selection of food on menu. Partner had pie of the day and highly recommend it. Risotto was good and steak fine but chips need improved.

We regularly eat at this restaurant and the food is always good. However yesterday we waited for over an hour from ordering to being served. The poor girl taking the orders and manning the bar was doing her very best to keep everyone happy and serve everyone. It transpired that there was only 1 (agency) chef in the kitchen who was clearly not coping with the number of orders coming in. There was no manager present to assist the staff. We shall wait a few weeks until a new chef has hopefully started and then try again. Not up to the usual standard

4th time we have been to restaurant feel like its a home from home now on our list of better places to go to! Wife had fish and chips no problem... I had ceasar salad + for an extra. £5 had carch if the day .. Hake. Mmmm one of my favorite fishes a most underated beautiful fish... Not today a microwaved piece of tasteless rubber, discussed with waitress and after took it back tobtge kitchen to discuss with 'chef' they obviously thought it was funny no comment no feed back... Paid left will not return crossed off my list of go to places... Such a shame and lack of care....
