The Dining Room offers dining Friday to Sunday for lunch or Monday to Saturday for dinner. Located next door to The Bistro, in the heritage original dining room of the Stirling Hotel, The Dining Room offers a tranquil and cosy environment with high ceilings, leafy features and warming open fires.

We had a lovely lunch for my Mums birthday. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The wine list was surprisingly extensive. The outside afternoon dining was magic and the food was delicious. We all had different meals and they all were delicious. Definitely be back again.

Disappointed, we have eaten at the Stirling previously and always had a good experience. Our last visit was far from that, very average quality of food and menu. Food was cold when it was served, some fillet steak was full of fat, and the port loin dish was way over cooked! Not great and a bit disappointing based on prior visits. They did take the food off the bill however, which was a nice gesture.

Couldn't find our reservation, told to go to one area and then got taken back to where we started. Not the best or the worst, but won't be returning anytime soon.

Staff were brilliant; nice balance of service without being "over the top". Food was really good. The Stirling Hotel has been really well renovated and is a charming old pub in a picturesque leafy Adelaide Hills township that was buzzing with Sunday afternoon markets amidst a beautiful misty fog - reminded me of being in England. Which for the start of summer (December) was a rare thing. And something else, the wine list is very extensive starting from good value budget wines (no such thing as a bad red in South Australia) ranging to hideously expensive. I chose something mid-range a Barossa Glaetzer Bishop Shiraz - which did the trick nicely with my steak. Blasted off with a couple of pints of Coopers Pale followed by the Red for the boost phase. Finished with a scotch that kept me in orbit (I made that last bit up). Wasn't driving.

Great food and service but too noisy on a Saturday night. The acoustics are not good. You could not hear your dining companions talk. We almost had to shout to be heard. Better to go during the week as it is quieter.

We used to love the ambiance of dining room but on our recent visit it was much noisier than we recall however still a lovely place to be. The food was good especially the starters. My pork for main course was dry however I accept this may be due to the way it was cooked on the Josper. My husband's lamb was delicious. Our real concern was the wine list which is extensive but we chose 3 wines all of which they did not have therefore in the end we accepted a more recent vintage of our third choice. My suggestion is to perhaps have a smaller list but be able to supply all that is on it. As we were having difficulty finding a wine it took a long time for us to get served as the person serving us during this time changed giving us the impression it was just too hard.
