The view and ambience were great!! We were disappointed in our server it seemed we were an inconvenience to him. The food for the price was a huge letdown for $375 for two I was expecting to be wowed by the food and it was not!

We enjoyed our yearly trip to Sun Mountain. We always look forward to the food. There is food available now from 7:30 AM until 9PM in one of the restaurants. That is good news, but the downside is the Main dining room restaurant menu is not as outstanding as it once was. Our filet mignon was cooked to perfection, but the sides weren't as adventurous as they once were. The Wolf Creek menu is so-so. Breakfast is still excellent and cooked to order.

We each ordered the spinach omelet with goat cheese. Neither of us could see or taste any goat cheese, and there were way more mushrooms than spinach.

Waited about 45 minutes for our starters to come out. Waited 1hr20m for our main course. The table that arrived 30 minutes after us got their food before we did, and ordered basically the same thing we did. The Fettucine Bolognese was a small serving size. Noodles were undercooked and sauce was lacking flavor. The half chicken was good. The manager did apologize for the food delay and comp’d the Bolognese and our desserts. The desserts were average. Would not have spent $14 for either of them. Spent over $100 for food that wasn’t to the level of Olive Garden.

We had a very lovely quite dinner. The service was great from beginning to end. The food was also brought out very quickly (although the restaurant was not very busy). The food was very good, and I would go so far as to say fantastic. I was pleased to see they offered vegan and vegetarian options. I had the mushroom flatbread, and it was super tasty, with crisp crust but soft on inside bread. The dessert of flowerless chocolate cake was far better than most I have had.

The Dining Room at Sun Mountain Lodge used to be a destination place for an exceptional dining experience. After dining here recently on three different occasions, it’s obvious the restaurant is going through some changes in the kitchen and has lost its footing in the area of fine dining. My hope is that it will hire an Executive Chef and elevate the food to what it was once known or offer a more reasonable menu with relative pricing because the dining room at the Lodge has so much to offer; friendly staff, incredible views, and cozy ambiance.

Seems like this place uses advantage of being the only one dining place around the hotel in many miles. Terrible service, even worse food. The intuitive decision if you don’t have enough servers after specific time would be not letting people book tables after specific hours. Otherwise the customers get a terrible service in the corner table (out of all empty tables around the restaurant next to a very loud old couple complaining about their lives to each other) with an hour wait for the highly overpriced food which is even worse than a 8$ burrito in the nearest bakery. So, the bottom line, we won’t be back neither to the hotel nor to the restaurant, and we won’t be recommending this place to anybody.

We made reservations for New Years Eve dinner at the lodge months in advance. When we arrived for our reservation, the hostess said they had no more room in the dining room and moved us over to the pub. The ambiance was not nearly as nice in the pub as it was in the dining room as it was noisy and had two tv's on. If we would have known that we would not be eating in the dining room we would not have spent the money for the New Years Eve dinner. Service was also a problem. We had a manager help us and he did his best, but it was quite obvious that the pub and the dining room were understaffed as everyone seemed to have long wait times for service and food. We waited about ten minutes after being seated before we received water. As for our dinner, it arrived over an hour after ordering. We had the tenderloin with chardonnay tomatoes and diced potatoes. The tenderloin was cooked perfectly and had great flavor as did the tomatoes. The potatoes were another story. They were bland and there were not very many of them. Overall the food was good but for the money, portions were really small.
