Rockwall native, Chef David Hoffman and his wife, restaurant and wine industry veteran Jenni Hoffman, opened The Downing Bottles & Bites in order to bring their experience and expertise home to historic Downtown Rockwall. When you stop in, you'll be greeted by our retail and tasting area, where you can purchase wine and craft beer by the bottle to enjoy at home.
Or stay awhile in our cozy café, where Chef David and his team serve up the very best small plates, sandwiches, and salads, desserts. Our full-bar offers seasonal and classic cocktails, fine wines, and craft beer. One of my favorite neighborhood gems! We visit often and have never been disappointed. Wine flights and a cheese board on the patio on a beautiful evening... need I say more?!

We had an amazing time at the Downing. The staff is wonderful and the food is delicious. We would recommend this place to anyone!

What an amazing place and dining experience! Wonderful food, friendly, attentive staff and a very fun vibe. You will not be disappointed!

Our book club has so many great choices where to merr egg t up in Rockwall. This gem meets all of needs, hands down!

Outstanding, friendly service. Delicious food served in manageable portions. Fairly extensive wine list and delightful cocktails. Highly recommended for an enjoyable experience!

The Downing is one of my very favorite places in Rockwall. The seared Salmon is my favorite! It is always cooked to perfection! I can count on it to be the same delicious dish every time I order it! I love the Downing!

Our book club always meets here once a month for a superb experience. There are other places in Rockwall where we could go and we’ve tried them—-not more than once! But, we always come back to Downing’s Bottles n Bites!!

My husband and I ate at the bar which is our favorite spot. The new Salmon dish was excellent. I thought I might bring home some, but I could not stop eating!! This restaurant amazing. Owned by locals in Rockwall. I usually go at least four days during the week.

We love DB&B. This was one of the first restaurants we ate at when we moved here and it is still our favorite. The chef has great instincts about beer, wine, drinks and food. There’s great variety and the rotating specials keep us coming back. The noise level is not too high and they play great music at a low level so it’s not an annoyance.
