Welcome to The Elephant Restaurant
The Elephant is a bright, informal restaurant which is situated near the beautiful Torbay harbour. It was the first restaurant in Torquay to be awarded a Michelin star which it maintains today. We aim to source all our ingredients locally and sustainably, many from our dedicated farm in Brixham.

Run by chef proprietor, Simon Hulstone and his wife Katy. Food is cooked by a talented team of chefs and served by friendly, professional team of staff.

Due to the style of cooking we cannot produce dairy free menus & therefore cannot provide vegan options.

A deposit is required to make reservations on special days of the year, on our special events, or for tables of 6 or more. This is paid over the phone by calling 01803 200044.

Children's menu is only available at lunch for ages 10 and under.

Tasting menu only available in the evening unless requested via phone in advance.

Food was delicious, but the portions were slightly too small. Everything else was great, especially the service.

This was my wife an I’s third visit, and it has already become our favourite place to dine. We’ve always opted for the taster menu, twice at lunchtime. The value for Michelin star quality is outstanding. The wine flight is a reasonably priced addition and it superbly matched. The front of house team are discreet and professional whilst managing to create a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere, which makes return visits a certainty.

Great Michelin starred restaurant. Lovely lunchtime taster menu. Staff were attentive but not overbearing. Highly recommended.

An excellent meal with some new flavours that I have not tasted before. Great combination of flavours and cooking. Team were knowledgeable and very helpful. Overall a great experience.

Fantastic experience. Great food great service great ambiance. Taster Menu was good value and exquisitely tasted. Staff were friendly and polite.

It was an experience the restaurant serves superb food but because of the Michelin stars the amount of food served is very very minimal. We left the restaurant hungry also as well there was a lot of alcohol with the dinner which was appreciated but we did leave a little lightheaded, I thought it was very expensive though 430 quid was a lot of money.

Highly recommend Michelin quality food without the usual price tag Service & surrounding impeccable with young friendly knowledgeable staff
