  • Dog-friendly
  • Neighbourhood gem
The Ferry Inn is a serendipitous country public house with welcoming staff, character rooms, candlelight, open fires, real ales, popular foods and fantastic sunsets.

A 17th Century former smugglers haunt-- this is a pretty little pub in a lovely marshland setting with tables and benches on the front terrace and in the back alongside the riverbank.

Inside it's very easygoing and chatty. The main bar has hop-draped painted beams, a green dado, and stools against the bar where they serve a beer called Oxney Ale specially brewed for the pub by Westerham Brewery.

To the right is a cosy eating area with wheelback chairs-- ideal for a banquette with friends around a few long tables.

Another great meal only slightly marred by all the roast lunches having ran out by 2.30 pm only chicken available so NOT really Sunday roast day ! All the food that was available was as usual top notch so a great meal even though it was not the one we came for ! This is a great place to eat but Sunday lunch should always be available a lot of people on the day were very disappointed !

An excellent meal. The place was packed but the service was very good and friendly. The food was well presented, with obvious thought as to how it looked as well as how it tasted. Full marks all round.

Knowing the Ferry of old, it was lovely to eat in the new bit... wonderful space. Great Sunday lunch menu... I must remember...book early because later sittings means less choice on menu and single glasses of red!! All in all a great family lunch...delicious food lovely space. Thank you.

Always a pleasure to visit the Ferry Inn, the new kitchens and recent extension has done nothing to effect the superb quality of the food and service from the friendly, attentive team and owners who work there. Been coming here for years and will continue to, thanks

I ordered the cod and chips (which I wouldn't normally do) as they had taken a dish I liked off the menu. The batter and chips could have been a bit crispier. They gave me the wrong dessert which they were polite and rectified it very promptly. I'm concerned that the new dining area, which has created many more covers, could have an adverse effect on the quality of the food and service. The dishes are not cheap but if it's good quality and cooked well then it's worth it.

Dear Ann-Marie Thank you for your review and comments. We are grateful for your feedback and apologise that your meal wasn't as it should have been on this occasion. Our kitchen capacity has increased inline with the dining space and we always endeavour for the quality of our food and service to be exceptional. We hope you will return so that we can provide you with a better experience. Kind Regards The Ferry Team
