   All seven of us had the most amazing night at The Fireplace. The service was special with particular attention to replenishing our water and beverages throughout the night. The food, OMG..everyones meal was superb, seared scallops, soup, steak cooked how desired. Desserts, yum yum, perfecto.The Fireplace is my new favourite dining destination, 👍

   Fireplace Restaurant - food review - 21/11/2024 - for 4 persons. Entres: Ribs, Mushrooms, Scallops, Soup - all excellent. Mains: Wagu beef - acceptable, but not as good as wagu should be. Scotch fillets (2) - cooked perfectly but an ordinary piece of meat, a little tougher than it should be and lacking flavor. No hot English mustard! Snapper - very ordinary piece of fish, somewhat overcooked, tasting like it had been frozen.

   We tried the lamb shoulder for two - excellent plus plenty so we brought some home. A friend had the prawn and bug linguine but she was not so happy, too strong tasting. Service good and ambience good but wines extremely pricey.

   We booked for our wedding anniversary. We arrived on time and our order was taken almost straight away. However, it was just over an hour when our meal arrived and the chicken was dry and the meal tasteless. We always have a dessert but didn't want to wait another hour so we left feeling very deflated after what should have been a happy occasion. Yes the restaurant was busy but that was no excuse for over an hours wait.

   I’m sorry I never do this but I had to because it was not a pleasant experience and if you are not made aware you can’t fix it. The start was good, but our biggest issue was we never saw our waiter again, we asked if we could order entrees and wait to order mains and we were told no?? Our waiter never came back to top up water or our wine, when you pay $100 . We then had to stand up to get the attention of someone so we could order more wine.. and again we had nobody serving us, when other tables were empty or being looked after. Then our steaks which I will say were tasty but they were dead cold?? My wife asked for another steak and she received one in two minutes?? We then ordered dessert and after 45 minutes we had had enough and left.. We go out a lot for dinner, we were looking forward to celebrate my birthday and it was so disappointing..

   Loved the venue… however picked a bad night to celebrate our anniversary. Dreadful weather and the restaurant was packed and short staffed.

    25 years ago, I visited Fireplace Restaurant as a guest of the hotel to create my first piece of bylined content as a travel writer. I enjoyed my meal, the ambience and experience of this signature restaurant as much, if not more, last night than I did all those years ago. Returning with my husband, then boyfriend who missed out on the meal invite, and daughter we spent the evening regaling her with memories of our first visit. The smell of the wood fire, strolling the natural, beautiful grounds of the resort and being able to enjoy it with my family made it a night I will always remember. “Was it worth the 25 year wait?” I asked my husband, whom I had promised a return; “OMG, can we just,” go said our 15 year old.
