The French Quarter is a relaxed neighbourhood restaurant & wine Bar in a community of unique and quirky businesses in Newcastle city Centre. We are a friendly and approachable team of people, with a passion for the good things in life. Born from nostalgia for a traditional style of commerce and a desire to challenge perceptions that French dining is formal or fussy, we work with independent suppliers to offer a regularly changing wine list & tapas style menu. We have created a casual and sociable environment where customers are invited to experience our food, try our wines, shop from our deli and share our love of all things French!

We turned up early and were welcomed and accommodated. We had a table at the back, nice and quiet. We were told it was a *tapas style* deal. We ordered 7 dishes between us. Two of the dishes came out as a starter. I had a camembert which was lovely but not enough crudités compared to the size of the cheese. My husband had the chicken liver pate, which was the same ratio. Too much pate compared to sour dough. We opted for a bottle of sauvingon blanc at £38 per bottle and two cocktails. I had an espresso martini, which was lovely and my husband had an old fashioned which was nice. Our next lot of plates were chips, which my husband loved, dauphinois, which was very oily, a beef dish which was beautiful, garlic prawns (5) and a portion of green beans which were overwhelmingly cooked with garlic. Too much garlic for us, and we love garlic. We opted for dessert of a trio of sorbet, which my husband was very pleased with, and I had the brioche French toast, which was lovely. The service was impeccable. Just the right level of friendly interaction.

Amazing restaurant, service, food, ambience and value for money, that good we’ve booked to come back in a few weeks time. The service was truly outstanding with everyone going out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our evening, the food, not sure where to start, you can tell the chefs love what they do and every bite made us want more. Super cool restaurant and value for money, there is a lot of restaurants in Newcastle that come with a great reputation however I can honestly say this is definitely the stand out venue for me. 👏💪

We had the set lunch menu which was excellent value. There were 3 choices for starters, main course and dessert - all were appealing and varied. GF and V options were clearly flagged. Portions were just right to encourage us to have three courses and not feel too full or alternatively, hungry. The food was beautifully presented and very tasty. Service was polite, relaxed and friendly but efficient and well-timed. The atmosphere and style was very attractive and pleasant - not too noisy but not deadly quiet. There was a good choice of wines by the glass. The only thing I didn't care for was the coffee cups without handles - hard to pick up without being uncomfortably hot.

Food was nice but not as good as the last time we were there, felt like there was lack of depth of flavours.

The food was outstanding and the service exemplary. The ambience: warm, relaxed and convivial. The one downside: the meal came to an end!
