Le George Public House est la réincarnation victorienne d'un café du XVe siècle situé à l'angle des rues Strand Street et Fleet Street, directement en face de la Cour royale de justice à l'architecture spectaculaire et à 10 minutes de marche du West End. À l'automne 2014, le bar du rez-de-chaussée et la salle à manger du George installée au premier étage, ont fait l'objet d'importants travaux de rénovation. Cet établissement a notamment créé le restaurant élégant et sophistiqué The Pig and Goose ainsi que la salle à manger privée Horace Walpole. Les propriétaires ont soigneusement conservé les éléments d'origine de ce pub historique et ont admirablement marqué le George Public House de leur empreinte tout en maintenant une atmosphère traditionnelle dans l'ensemble des locaux. Le restaurant flambant neuf Pig & Goose situé à l'étage du George est ouvert du lundi au samedi et propose un menu britannique moderne et alléchant, élaboré uniquement avec les meilleurs produits locaux de saison. À côté du restaurant Pig & Goose se trouve la salle à manger privée et exclusive Horace Walpole, qui offre une vue imprenable.

The first and second courses were very good but the pudding was frozen So not good to eat

The whipped Stilton starter, scallops appetizer, and venison main course were all terrific! Best meal I have had in quite a long time, and best pub food in London. Upstairs dining room (with its own bar) is cozy and comfortable. Friendly staff, nice wine selection, and prompt service. I look forward to my next visit!

The venison was fantastic as were the sides. Friendly service, good beers and cocktails.

Exactly what we signed up for. Lovely traditional pub with full board. The Sunday roast was perfect.

Excellent, friendly and helpful service. The Sunday roast menu was comprehensive and the food was well presented and of high quality. The wine list was extensive with interesting varieties on offer. The charges are on the high side but in accordance with what now appears to be the norm in London. We enjoyed our meal and visit very much. The bill was chargeable on card only and included an already charged service charge of 12.5 %. We would have preferred to have left a discretionary amount in cash directly for the excellent waiter who served us so well.

We were made very welcome. It was new Year's Eve so understandably busy but the upstairs dining area was running smoothly.the food was well presented and delicious. The steak was cooked exactly how my husband ordered , and he was very complimentary. We will be sure to return to this lovely pub

50% of the dishes were not available, including all of the vegetarian starters. The only veg main option available was pretty terrible. The desserts were also very poor.

Our family enjoyed our Sunday roast! It was delicious! Our reservation needed to be moved up due to an error in the booking system for the time we chose and they took care of it quickly.
