   What should have been a lovely family occasion was somewhat spoilt by slow service. There was just one person serving but she was totally overwhelmed by the volume of customers . Our table was booked for 1.30. We eventually got our food at 2.50. We appreciate the pub was short staffed and that Katey was doing her upmost to keep on top of things. But it would have been nice to have been told on our arrival that there would be a delay. Would also have been nice to have had an apology. Needless to say we didn’t stay for desserts or coffees.

   Unfortunately, the prawn cocktail starter had far too much sauce on it which made it far too overbearing and the mushy peas that came with my scampi were lukewarm. The starter and steak and apple pie that my husband had were both very tasty and served at the correct temperature.

   On Boxing Day at 5pm it was quiet at the bar and front area. The log burner was out so not much atmosphere but Kester arrived and lit it immediately. I had salmon and asked for it to be lightly cooked at it was perfect. My partner had the Angus steak rare and that too was cooked nicely. Kester looked after us very well.

   Awful. Boxing Day ‘treat’ - a family Christmas meal, waited 1 and 3/4 hours before the starter was served, 2 and a half hours til we had the main course - pre-ordered the menu 3 weeks in advance yet were told they ‘were out’ of what we had ordered. Horribly understaffed by people who were doing their absolute best. Bad table by the front door and freezing cold even though we booked two months ago. No attempt at customer service. A no frills meal, cold and underwhelming. Steaks poor quality, lamb meagre portions - too many complaints to list! Asked to speak to the manager 3 times, never materialised - but they were very happy to reduce our bill and other customers having a similarly bad time. Still we paid far too much for a poor meal and even worse experience. Review written by someone who NEVER complains in a restaurant. 😡

   My forst experience of a restaurant on Christmas day, and it was fantastic. Great food, perf3ctly cooked across the board, nice staff. Was worried when we walked in and it was pretty dead, but we were fairly early and it soon filled up, however, it was well spaced out and we weren't squashed in. Will be back!

   Lovely Christmas Eve family meal. I asked for a table with space for our dogs and a high chair and it was perfect. The service was fast and the staff all very friendly. Thank you all, we had a great time.

   Went for Xmas lunch at the pub. The turkey Xmas dinner was very disappointing, the roast potatoes were hard on the outside, and the veg seemed a bit soggy and limp. The pigs in blankets had a funny twang taste to them that nobody could identify and the balls of stuffing were rock hard. On discussing we all felt like the food had been plated for some time and microwaves to serve.

   Booked for Sunday lunch for a birthday. Would not recommend. Food took an hour to arrive and was lukewarm, beef was chewy, vegetables were tasteless and roast potatoes were clearly from a packet and not at all nice. Server apologised & told us that they had a new chef. Let’s hope the food improves as todays visit was very disappointing. Such a shame as our visit in September was very good.

    We're yet to have a good experience here and our third time of trying was no exception! This time we were seated, ordered drinks and pulled some crackers. We waited and then someone came to take our order, but we hadn't been given any menu's. Menus came and we were ready to have our order taken a few minutes later. There was 1 vegan in our party (me) and we were told that the mushroom vegan dish wasn't available. We asked what the alternative was and nobody knew. We noticed a burger meal that offered a vegan option, but that also wasn't available. The manager came, offered no solution, so we left. 3 strikes and we're out!
