When the restaurant was under previous management, it had spotty hours. But now under their new management, I tried again and it’s delicious and this will be on my go-to list of restaurants and bars. The food was great, staff was so friendly, and there’s easy parking - which is rare for DC.

I’ve gone before and definitely would have rated it a 5 but the doors were locked and the business clearly closed when we showed up for this reservation. I tried contacting the restaurant via phone and instagram and didn’t receive a response on either.

I’m not sure this restaurant actually exists. I live nearby and never see it actually open. I made a reservation and tried to go there last night - doors were locked and place was dark. No notice or anything. Would have been nice to know before coming.

The GAB is a karaoke bar masquerading as a restaurant. The service 9/22 lacked attention to detail coupled with many apologies, and huge effort. The chef/cook visited our table by request and explained it was her first day which started 4 hours before we arrived and she could only prepare 4 items. Of the 4 items they ran out of hamburger buns and had to go to the store to buy buns. The karaoke and loud music is not suitable for dinner which we would have finished before karaoke started but we were waiting for our food. The owner was lurking around and didn’t bother to introduce herself after my friend invited her to meet the table guests but reveled to me she was the owner after I went to to bar with three different receipts to pay the bill. If you go for drinks and karaoke you’ll have a good time. Later I noticed the karaoke guests only ordered drinks.

Don't sleep on this place! The food here is outstanding! Service on point! Very clean! Decor on point! This is the perfect date and chill spot! We will definitely return!! Stop wasting your time going to brunch on U St or anywhere else! This is it!!! Come here and get your brunch on!! The lobster Mac and cheese is everything! Lemon pepper wings Omg! Shrimp and grits! Listen you can’t go wrong here!!!

Very poor experience on a Friday evening. Place was empty at 6:30, but the kitchen was out of half of the menu items. At one point, our party was told that “the chef has it, they just don’t want to make it” when an order was placed. Shocking stuff, and the food that we finally could order wasn’t nearly good enough to justify the price. Crossing this place off of our list.

We stayed nearby in an Airbnb and were looking for a close by place to eat dinner. This far exceeded our expectations. I would eat there again if I were in DC.

The entire staff at the Great American Bistro was superb. The Host that greeted us, our Waiter was very attentive and excellent. The Executive Chef came out and introduced himself. The food was served timely and absolutely delicious.

The food was absolutely amazing! The shrimp and grits was on point! The crispy turkey bacon takes it up to a whole level. Just add wings and other options to the brunch menu. We will definitely return!
