Opening their first location in the spring of 1984, Helen Babalos & Thomas Makris brought us Anatoli Souvlaki. They had a dream of combining the food of Greece with great service to add some Mediterranean style to the North Vancouver restaurant selection. They opened in the sleepy neighbourhood of lower Lonsdale and lived above the restaurant to ensure the quality and service. They were able to create a North Vancouver staple, a successful thriving restaurant based on faithful patrons and a reputation that has been passed through generations.In 2011, the family-run restaurant was taken over by their sons Alexi and Iani. In 2015, the brothers, alongside their cousin Daniel Bergman, expanded on their parent’s dream by opening The Greek in Yaletown, with a focus on mezze-style dining. Now open in Gastown. The Greek is a reinterpretation of the North Shore's iconic Anatoli Souvlaki.

Dine out dinner at Greek GasTown was not good. I ordered the lamb souvlaki. The lamb quantity was small (a few pieces on skewers) and quality was very ordinary. I later realized they gave me the beyond meat souvlaki by accident. The calamari and ekmek were okay. The food also arrived at different times for each person. The music was so loud I could not make conversation and my ears were ringing when I left. I am not happy with my experience at the Greek and won't be coming back.

On a Saturday the music was very energetic felt like walking into a club. The calamari was very chewy, but the batter was good 6.5/10 for that meal.

Great ambiance inside. The food was delicious. Service was fair. We had to ask for a second glass of wine. I ordered two appies for my main meal, others ordered only entrees, mine was brought out way ahead of the others I was dining with (though it was very clear these were my entree). Felt like they rushed us to get out, even though we were there at this point for 1.5 hrs (group of 4) and it took that amount of time to only be served entrees.

A quick dinner with a friend before a movie. Our first time there. Food and service were very good and we will probably be back.

It was delicious. Pretty busy so I don’t blame anyone but definitely a great time. Wish we came sooner!

The food was underwhelming due to underseasoning or overseasoning, depending on the dish, and the chicken souvlaki was also very dry (overcooked). After all the positive reviews of The Greek, I was looking forward to eating there. Perhaps this was a bad day for the cook because it was New Year Eve. The saving grace was the service which was welcoming, friendly and genuine.
