Excellent food, service and ambience. And, at a time where the cost of eating out has noticeably increased, I thought this was excellent value.

Food was delicious and living very locally I had hoped for a better overall experience. Sadly we were placed in a “corridor” between tables where staff and customers were constantly pushing past us making it difficult to relax. Service not great at all, one waitress is particular really appeared not to want to be there. Staff did not know what “Jacob’s ladder” was or what it came with. At one stage a waitress reached right across one of our guests without apology to serve dessert to another as being in this tight spot this was quicker for her than pushing through a crowd of elderly guests who were putting on coats, gloves etc right on top of me. These people should have been moved towards the reception desk, not impacting our experience. A recommendation to order veggies would have been helpful as the delicious braised beef came only with mash and a little cabbage and we really needed more veg.. Drinks very expensive. Cheapest bottle of Prosecco was £40. Champagne was extortionate compared to same bottle in other local restaurants. Overall an expensive celebratory dinner didn’t feel that great after all.

It was lovely at the end of the evening that the chef came out and made an effort to speak to all diners. He gave information about his background and the set up of the establishment.
