Booked a table for my birthday, when we arrived they had no idea about the booking so we wasn’t seated in the dinning area we were seated in the ‘snug’ which was ok. I had the lasagna which was nice but I had to order a portion of chips as it didn’t come with anything only the lasagna, no garlic bread or salad. My partner had the mixed grill which was £17.50 and when it arrived I thought it was a child’s portion. The smallest piece of steak, one sausage, the smallest chicken breast an egg and a handful of chips. When I questioned the meal I was told there was no gammon. I asked why there was no substitute for the gammon to which they replied we could have an extra portion of chips. Over all very disappointed and will not be returning for food. Awful!!

Our Christmas Day at the Hinksford Arms was memorable, though not for the right reasons. Seated at a wobbly table smack in the middle of the “flight path to the toilets,” we kicked things off with high hopes—and no bread, despite being offered some. After a 50-minute wait, our starters arrived. My smoked salmon and prawn cocktail was gone in 27 seconds due to its minuscule size, while my partner’s generous garlic mushrooms needed my “help” to finish. Both were tasty, but the wait continued. An hour later, our turkey dinners arrived cold, less condiments, with raw carrots and hard sprouts. A drizzle of gravy added to the disappointment. Desserts followed, with my dry sticky toffee pudding and my partner’s chocolate tart, which appeared pre-nibbled. The promised mince pies and coffee? We didn’t stick around. Slow service plagued our section, with neighboring diners complaining and walking out before finishing their meals. A day we’d eagerly anticipated turned out to be a marathon of waiting and letdowns. A Christmas dinner to forget. 2/10 – Festive cheer not included.

Christmas Day lunch out, always going to be premium price point but this was so disappointing. We waited ages for service and our food and drinks, the starters and dinner were okay, nothing special. As for desserts - Christmas pud and sticky toffee pud were inedible and the tiniest portion of ice cream for my grandson I’ve ever seen - in a pot you would put sauce in with a few sprinkles on top. We left before our cup of tea and mince pies, had enough. It was obvious the young staff serving were under pressure and stressed, there were lots of complaints, not just our table. There was not a smile or happy Christmas greeting to be had when we arrived, no special attention for children which you might expect on Christmas Day. Even the crackers on the table had no snap and no surprise inside. The place though is charming and beautifully done out, this could easily have been turned around with better staffing and a bit more attention to the menu.

We did have the custom Christmas dinner. My son went for the vegetarian option and I had the steak both dishes were very tasty and enjoyable. I would most definitely book again

We went to the Hinksford Arms for the festive meal and it was absolutely great the food was excellent the service was great and the table set out lovely . We will certainly go there for another meal .

Booked for 1 pm on Sunday lunch time to be told the Sunday lunch wouldn't be available for another hour. We didn't want to wait so we decided to order off the menu. No one came to take our order so eventually my partner went to the bar in the other room to order. Meanwhile the waitress came over and tutted at us for ordering. Our meal was good but disappointingly not a Sunday roast. After an hour another table tried to order the Sunday roast to be told it wouldn't be available for an hour !!! Don't advertise Sunday roast when there isn't a Sunday roast !!! And certainly don't lie about it !!!

We had Sunday lunch and it was lovely. My son is vegetarian so he had vegetarian sausage and mash. There was plenty of food and it was delicious.
