My fiancé and I went for a date to try hook and plow for the first time. The appearance of the restaurant was beautiful but a bit to crowded for our liking. Tables were close together and we were sat next to a family with children that kept open-mouth coughing. Our tables were 2' apart so I felt we could hear each other's conversations during the whole experience. We ordered the bread and butter - amazing. The steak tartar was flavorless and cold. I ordered steak and potatoes - the potatoes were amazing but the steak was too charred for my liking and over seasoned. My fiancé got the lamb shank and it was also over seasoned. For a total of $106 we were glad we tried it but will opt to go elsewhere next time.

Appetizers were fast to arrive; the fries and poke were delicious. The chowder was too thick and cheesy not what I was expecting. A very long wait for the entry’s. The temperature on the burger was not medium rare but rather over cooked and the lamb shank was very tender and tasty but the plating was dark and mysterious and not pleasantly appealing.

Thoughtful and creative menu with both taste and heath considered. Good clean food prepared perfectly for those who care about what they consume. Nice appetizer options, amazing salads and delicious entrees. The desserts were pretty amazing as well. We really liked the crème brûlée and bread pudding. Not overly priced like some options in Bend for this caliber of dining experience.

Food was good but expensive. There are more affordable options that are just as good. Interesting cowboy/western vibe but very loud.

We’ve had good experiences at Hook & Plow but last night was no bueno. Our server was fantastic and handled it very well, which we greatly appreciated, but both our meals were 1/2 the quality they were in the past. Disappointing.

We like trying new restaurants. This was our first visit to the Hook & Plow, but not our last. Audra was a great waiter, the bread - lightly toasted - is fabulous, the burger is as good as the rave reviews we read, and my tequila old fashioned was quite tasty.

The fish was a bit dry and fishy tasting. The squid ink risotto in the mini cast iron skillet picked up too much of the iron flavor and made the last few bites unpleasant. The service is always wonderful but for the price the food wasn’t up to par.

We had fresh oysters and the fish special. Loved both! And our staff was like old friends and the best as always.

Food was exceptional but service was slow even though it was early dinner. Husband had to get up twice to get server into doing his job.
