A friend and I celebrated a long friendship on the outside patio. Everything was perfect. We each ordered their classic High Tea and loved every bite. The staff was amazing and the setting even better.

If outdoor dining is necessary or preferable, this is not the place to go. We made our reservations months in advance requesting outdoor patio seating. Unfortunately, when we arrived we were informed that a party had rented out the entire patio so we had to either return later in the day or sit inside (which for health reasons wasn’t possible for a member of our group) or dine in an area with no shade. The sun was blinding (no umbrellas) and surprisingly warm for December. The seating situation made the meal extremely unpleasant. One of our party had to hold her hands up in front of her face while eating. As we were leaving the manager apologized and suggested that I contact her in the future to avoid a problem. Nice gesture but it didn’t make up for a bad experience.

tough to review. since it's re-opening things have improved. i requested a table inside way back when i made this res for 12/8 but i noticed there appeared to be heaters now on the patio on the east side, when i was seated out there for the re-opening in the spring, it was freezing. this time was seated right by the swing door to the kitchen so that wasn't terrific and impacted my rating. the windows on the south side have the nicest views and the least traffic. it can get a little loud in there but it's nothing like bar noise. our table of 3 all had the basic tea and the xtra cheese plate. keep those sandwiches covered with plastic wrap at all times so they don't dry out! food was good. tasty warm mini scones. nice balance of savory to sweet. sands this time: open face salmon, BLT, egg salad, artichoke heart salad, something else i can't remember - good. cut into little strips - everyone get's 1/4 of a crusted whole sandwich. the sweets kind of a problem, a chocolate and a fruit tart and a little chocolate/almond cookie cornet with vanilla pastry cream and passion fruit gelee [i think], miso [!] madeleine (god, don't tell proust). the obsession with mini sweets results in a lot of dry or strange things. i wasn't super impressed - it would've been nice to choose one big great awesome thing, or have things that are supposed to be small, like good cookies. the sweet part needs some work. it must take an army to keep that place going, but it was expensive for what you got and for a not so good table that you don't have any control over. i love classical music, and that's what they played, terrible mix, music from the 20's and 30s would be lovely. i don't think it's great for groups or special occs because of how hard it is to get a reservation - if you've got an admin assistant, maybe...

After a nice morning walk through the beautiful garden, it’s a treat to have lunch in the tea room. Everything on the Huntington tea selection was scrumptious. We had the Caramelized Pear and Earl Grey teas and highly recommend if you’re undecided. You are in for a treat.

Edgar and the staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout. The tea and vast array of small bites were delicious. Can’t wait to do it again.

The food was an incredible disappointment. At the price charged I expected a far better quality. The sandwiches were made with dry, tasteless bread.

On a Monday at 2:30, the service was good but the tea service (sweet and savory) food for $65 per person was truly not satisfactory . The dominant taste of the sandwiches was the bread, and not terribly tasty bread, as well as rather stale. The sandwich fillings were insipid, tasteless, without any real flavor, one indistinguishable from the next. We started with the soup of the day, if onion, which was heavy, the crème separating from the broth, and lacking in any subtlety. Neither of us took more than two spoonfuls and, happily, the server took it off the check. Did I mention how disappointing the food was? And alol for only $165 for two including tax and a 20 percent tip (my choice) for the server.
