The Inn South Stainley - a uniquely independent cosy Yorkshire country pub with rooms offering a superior experience, great food, outstanding service and a truly memorable visit.

Our country pub and bar area is at the heart of The Inn which offers classic and contemporary interiors, relaxed seating and open fires. Enjoy country pub classic food dishes including daily specials and fine wines, cocktails, real ales and craft beer. Head Chef Shane White and his team have created a menu inspired by the seasons and resources and celebrates the amazing produce North Yorkshire has to offer.

We celebrate the regions finest produce and products, putting the customer at the heart of everything we do, achieved with a smile and a traditional Yorkshire welcome for all.

Pub warm and inviting. There was a set lunch menu which was good value, 2 courses for £19.95. We chose off the main menu as we had acquired a £30 voucher costing us£15. All 4 of us had The Barnsley Chop. It was cooked to perfection. Price a bit steep for £24.95 but with our money off it was worth it. Our other diner had risotto and said it was good. Nice house Sauvignon £25. Would deffo go again but would try the set menu.

Really good experience. Very pleasant pub where we enjoyed a few pre-lunch drinks and then comfortable, airy dining room. Friendly staff who looked after us well. Excellent food and drink.

Huge range of food on the extensive menu. Delicious, well presented and interesting combinations. We will certainly be back to sample something else. Staff were lovely too.

Good food, good service and good price. What more do you want. For two wheelchair users also very accessible.

Lovely place to go for breakfast. Went with my 10 year old son, my friend and her 10 year old daughter. The kids loved the buffet and also enjoyed the pancakes. We had the full breakfast (me traditional and my friend, veggie). Really reasonably priced, delicious food and plenty of choice to keep the kids happy. We’re definitely planning on returning.

Sunday lunch. Never the best test of a kitchen. The chorizo was In a cold bowl; not easy to cut it there. The seabass was excellent. Roast less so. Not very warm on a cold plate. The roast potatoes were sitting in gravy and weren’t crisp. Roast parsnips excellent. Roly Poly Pudding was good. In general the food was over salted. Especially the gravy. The staff were good but service was slow. Will try again mid week.

We sat to the left of door which meant each time was opened it became very draughty, something to consider next visit. A table of 7 we ordered6 Sunday roasts, when the veg cam a good 10 mins after main meal was served, they sent just 2 portions, 1 turnip 1 mixed cabbage with 2 carrots. When asked, was if for the 6 was told a stern Yes. A table across from us where there was 3 people sat, they had the exact same qty of veg. The next waitress who asked was all OK, again I questioned the veg. She did say yes that was it all but she said she would get some more thankfully. This came 5 mins later. All our roasts were mainly good but not that hot especially as we had been waiting for the veg. Two of the roasts were turkey but there was no pigs in blankets which were on menu. A nice touch was a birthday card and a piece of cake on a birthday plate. Our waitress was helpful.
