Our food took a while to arrive. We were asked to leave the table before we could order deserts. We asked if we could eat this at the bar but was told no. We spent a lot of money and feel this evening was reuined by being asked to leave the table. I’ve visited this restaurant many times and this was my worst experience.

Service on this occasion 21/2 was awful. We were 10 minutes early and our table was not ready yet there were empty tables waiting to be laid. Upon being seated we were surrounded by dirty uncleared tables and it didn't even seem that busy! There seem to be too many young staff being left holding the baby and taking the brunt of complaints! From entry to exit this visit was not a great experience. The food is of good quality and the staff are nice enough but it comes across as staff not being well trained in how to handle busy periods. Had 4/5 plates delivered for each course having to ask for the 5th each time and the pre arranged birthday desserts were not delivered until asked for. Overall a very disappointing visit for this special occasion. I would return but not for a while as this is my second visit in a month and service has been poor both times. I wouldn't normally post such things as everyone can have a 'bad day at the office' but as I said, service was poor on both occasions but I cannot fault the food. The wine, however, is overly expensive compared to many other venues.

As soon as we arrived we were told the cloakroom was too full for us to leave our coats, so we had no option to hang them over our chairs. No one came to the table until we eventually asked if we could order some wine. Our ‘nibbles’ for the table arrived with our first courses, then one of the main courses didn’t come. We had to ask twice for them to sort it out and even then got no apology when it finally arrived. Every time our glasses were empty we had to ask for our wine until we gave up and got the bottle ourselves and left it on the table to serve ourselves. We asked 3 times for the dessert menu and in the end we just chose from the set menu as the other menu never arrived. It completely ruined our lunch which is such a shame as the restaurant is lovely and the food was good.

Very disappointing evening. This place was recommended to us by several people who said how wonderful it was, so we went with four friends. The food was rushed and cold. We were still eating our starters when the duck arrived and with no space on the table it was taken away. When it came back it was cold and had obviously been left sitting on the side. The way it was served meant you couldn’t talk to the person on the other side of the table. We felt that the restaurant couldn’t quite decide what it was trying to be; sharing starters across the board, but the mains were definitely only a one person portion, which meant we ended up under ordering. Slow inattentive staff, who didn’t understand the difference between gyoza and dim sum, we definitely won’t be rushing back. I should also say that since the Ivy shares toilets with Ivy Asia, the standard of cleanliness and overall availability of cubicles is poor. There are not enough toilets for both restaurants and they are filthy and smelly. It’s put me off going to either restaurant.

The food was good, service slow and lacking professionalism. Music was ok but unnecessarily loud. We’ve been many times but felt a bit let down this time.
