   Not our normal warm welcome and great service quite disappointed. I understand days like today are overly busy however some servers just didn’t look like they wanted to be there. Not a smile in sight! Apart from one who was a delight , one of the floor managers I think, the overall experience lacked any kind of warm ambiance. Table over an hour late after a mix up of our booking as they wanted us to dine at the bar. The hosts were not welcoming at all. They all looked miserable not the vibe you want when dining with your children on Mother’s Day. This would have been the 3rd year my daughters taken me for afternoon tea for Mother’s Day and unfortunately today was not good! I even had to ask for spoons, side plates and our hot drinks. And the bread that I’d ordered for us to snack on before hand because we were all so hungry didn’t come I had to ask where it was , it finally turned up 20 mins after our afternoon tea arrived ! I felt sad to ask for the service charge to be removed , this is first for me as having worked in hospitality I always tip. Not a great experience. - and definitely not worth £150 🥺

   went for mother’s day lunch at the ivy cardiff the receptionist was friendly but majority of the wait staff looks miserable. we had the roast which was edible but wasn’t hot, seemed like it was left on side waiting to be served. the roast potatoes tasted like they were rolled in salt but the texture was nice. i ordered 2 plain cheeseburgers for my kids but they got order wrong and delivered just plain hamburger and when i asked if they could add cheese into it they said they can get a slice for me but came back with small amount of grated cheese that they charged £2.50 for!! overall the price was excessive for the quality of the food. receptionist was nice and welcoming but everyone else wasn’t great. there was a blonde waitress i kept seeing who looked like she didn’t want to be there and it seemed like of she smiled it would have been the end of the world.

   Table was late by 15 minutes. Whilst the food was excellent the main having no sides was an issue as the sides are a little too expensive.

   To management! I am writing to express my disappointment regarding my recent visit to your restaurant on 27th of March at 3.15pm. Your website and reception staff assured us that vegan options, including Afternoon Tea, were available. However, when we arrived, our server informed us that this was not the case, stating that the receptionist was new and that the website had not been updated. This was particularly disappointing as we were celebrating a birthday, and my friend—who was looking forward to the Afternoon Tea—had to settle for a main course instead. When we inquired about a possible goodwill gesture, we were told there was nothing that could be done. Additionally, the service from our waiter was poor throughout the experience. They displayed a lack of empathy and manners, which only added to our dissatisfaction. Given the misleading information and the overall service, we were left very disappointed. I would appreciate a response regarding this matter, as we believe it is important for businesses to uphold their advertised promises and provide good customer service.

   Always good food and you can count on the quality. The service was exceptional. We sat at the bar after the rugby and were well served by the bar team. Friendly and caring. Really good.
