My fiance and I booked the NYE 3-course meal, advertised as having a circus theme. The service certainly was a circus. We arrived early and did not get seated until 30 minutes after our reservation time. The staff did not even apologise for the delay. If we had shown up 30 minutes late, our table would've been given away and we'd have been charged, so it's disappointing that the staff did not even muster up an apology. We were not alone in this either, since about 20 other people were all waiting at the side of the restaurant to be seated. They cited the busyness of NYE being the reason for the long delay. Frankly, this just came across as amateurish since they have had all year to plan for this (literally), and I am sure The Ivy have done many NYE parties before. After finally being seated, it took another 30 minutes for us to get water for the table. We did have to ask 4 times, however. Service was slow all night too. This eventually led to us having only 15 minutes to get down from the restaurant to the river to try and catch a glimpse of the fireworks. The food itself was good. Some dishes better than others but none of them bad. The desserts were especially nice. Finally, a service charge of 13.5% (I think) was added to our bill. For what service did I have to pay this for? The service of being seated 30 minutes after my reservation time? Or the extremely slow service? I would have kicked up a fuss to get this removed from our bill, but as mentioned above, was not left with much time to get down to the river to see the New Year's fireworks. I do not object to paying a service charge. I am happy to do so when the service is good. However, this was far from it. Unapologetic, slow, and disorganised staff. It definitely was a circus and the staff were the clowns. Extremely disappointing from a restaurant as well regarded as The Ivy. I likely will not be back and certainly not at New Year.

Really great evening for NYE! Good ambience and food was great. A little pricey as the set menu didn’t even include a welcome drink like most places do for NYE!

Not our first visit here but was left disappointed on this occasion. The service was not attentive. Some of the set menu options were unavailable, my steak was not a great cut and one of our party had a chewy squid starter. Overall quite underwhelming at this price point.

Beautiful food and lovely friendly staff. Went for brunch on Sunday morning, it was moderately busy but not too loud and the service was impeccable. Will definitely return

I'm fairly regular here - about 3-4 times a year either my booking or as a guest. Last few times the service has been average. Last night we were showed to our table by front of house but no drink offered. It's quite difficult to get the attention of staff and the ones attending to other tables do not make eye contact so I had to say "excuse me" quite loudly to get attention. Drinks were fairly slow to arrive. Once our guests arrived they wanted drinks so we asked the guy who brought my drinks. He didn't know which gins were on offer and said he'd return but didn't. We eventually got drinks!! Food was okay, I had Sirloin steak but some of it was gristly and I couldn't eat it. Not a huge problem. Lastly, the lack of lighting in there is getting a bit silly, especially in some parts of restuarant. It's so dark that you see lots of people using the torches on their phones to read the menu. I literlly couldn't see what I was eating. The atmosphere and surroundings are great (except darkness). They seem to be losing what made them special and if go again I will take one of those LED table lamps.

Superb dining experience as always from Ivy! We were celebrating a birthday and being at the Ivy made it more enjoyable. Food was fantastic, we opted for 2 course xmas set menu and it was great portions and quality of food. Would highly recommend to others. Staff were attentive and friendly, and made us feel very welcome. Thanks for a great night!

Food nice, but service patchy. Delivered wrong cocktails and then explained they didn’t have all the ingredients so had just given an alternative without asking. No -one asked if the meal was good, and we had to keep waving for service. Ladies toilets were dirty- empty toilet rolls on the floor in all of the cubicles. Overall not what you’d expect from The Ivy.

Too noisy too many customers to be able to serve well. Music was just a surge increasing the difficulty to hear yourself speak our wine was served to the wrong table!!! The bill over charge was £150 due to wrong drinks and too many set xmas meals. It took 4 attempts to get it right. The level of food quality was very average. Over cooked fish; warm food, ordinary visual . I thought the Ivy was high class dining !! It's not its formulaic average quality and boring. Will not be ripped off there again. It's purely a money making business for rich investors. Think again
