This was my first time going based on positive reviews from my parents and friends. This did not disappoint and is the best restaurant I have attended in a long time. The service was unbeatable. The atmos was wonderful, warm and very inviting. Love the quirky and distinctive art and deco around the rooms. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were extremely attentive and very helpful. I am excited and looking forward to going back with my partner. This has kick started my Christmas in the best way possible. A huge thank you to all the staff who served and keep up what is unbeatable service, quality and a unique experience to anyone. A*****

Been here many times, always good….terrible this time. Returned our scallop starter as badly overcooked, second effort not much better. Neither of next courses were edible; chicken skewers way too hot (had them many times before so not normal) cheese souffle gooey in the middle. Service extremely slow. Ordered ice cream to cool mouth down after chicken skewers, never arrived. All food was taken off the bill without us asking so they knew they had a problem….still charged service though! Going to find somewherre new to dine next time in York

Disappointed. The location is lovely, the decoration is lavish, the ambiance is superb. Unfortunately the food was disappointing. We had the afternoon tea - maybe a poor choice….. The scones were the best part. The sandwiches were adequate. The cakes had little flavour, I couldn’t tell what the filling was in the red glazed eclair - and the server couldn’t tell me either!

Not enough sandwiches, we wasn't given a choice between festive or normal afternoon tea, we was given fruit scones not a choice, apart from a mince pie all the other cakes we're chocolate based which made it to sickly to finish. To top it off the waiter started clearing away before we had finished.

It’s been a while since visiting The Ivy, York. Whilst the service and ambience was just as good, the food was of a lesser quality than previous. I had the veg breakfast. The portions seemed smaller and of a poorer quality than before. The granary toast in particular was thin, hard and over toasted. The tables are also too small to accommodate easily the food and drinks (we were a group of 4) which also may be why the plates are now oval and thinner. So, a nice setting but average food at a place that used to be much better.

Best food ever at The Ivy this year on our annual Christmas shopping trip to York. We had such a lovely evening, it was all perfect.

Felt very rushed refilling water glass so often the water in bottles was empty in about 15 minutes leaning over a diner eating is terrible asked her not to she did it again not our best finish to a lovely day food was very average both had upset stomach on the night
