Ordered the smoked salmon starter which according to the menu consisted of trout caviar, watercress salad, cream fraiche, salmon and small toasts. The plate came out with only smoked salmon and toasts. I complained and the waiter came back with trout caviar watercress salad cream fraiche on another plate. SO I had to transfer the contents to the original plate. A little unsatisfactory given this is a 5 star hotel.

Let me behind by saying we are often in The Lobby Lounge, and I don't take writing this review lightly. Our table wasn't ready for 14h30 we were left standing out in the Kobby whilst she went to " check" - luckily the young French man in charge showed us to the bar whilst the table was being prepared.after being shown to our table, the same woman asked us if we've experienced afternoon tea before. We said yes, but off she went to tell us about it nonetheless. Then she said, " Did you ask for Halaal food?" - we were so confused!!! Best case of racial profiling ever. After looking at our confused faces, she said, " Just forget that I said that." What was that about. THANK God, she was taken off serving us - any so loud too.

Outstanding experience. Wonderful service by friendly, competent, attentive staff. Luxury surroundings with a magical Christmas decor. Delicious, beautifully presented food.

The food was not the best at all. You would also think with a festive theme mince pies and mulled wine would also be offered (as they are I'm other 4 and 5 star hotels). The service was very poor, we were left for long periods of time waiting on requests or they'd come back and ask us what we asked for again (and it was not busy at that time). It would also be nice to be asked if we would like any extra sandwiches (which again most 4 and 5 star hotels offer). The sandwiches and cakes were very dry and did not have much flavour unfortunately. Plus a big issue was that in the drawing room where afternoon tea is served they had allowed a party gathering to share this space that took up two full tables in the centre of the room; the guests blocked our entrance in/out of the room, there was children running around and the noise levels were ridiculous for an afternoon tea space. I have a hearing impairment and could not hear my friends speak, I felt totally out of the loop on our conversations. We had afternoon tea here last December and felt very comfortable and enjoyed our experience that afterwards we stayed until after 8 with having drinks and we also ordered dinner, but this year has me feeling that I don't think I would return and I avidly attend afternoon tea un many hotels around Ireland as it is a favourite thing of mine to do especially with my mother and grandmother.

Excellent service but cold table at the window, salmon dish was tiny with 2 spinach leaves and a tiny blob of crème fraise! Please improve the offering … excellent service though!

Nice Christmas atmosphere, pianist playing piano however it was a tad too high in volume, not sure you can tweak piano volume. Conversation was difficult during those piano recitals. Lovely music well played I must add. Cauliflower & potato curry was too dry, we had to ask for more curry sauce. While the sauce was nice the cauliflower/potato/rice combination was bland in taste /colour & needed something else, green spinach maybe or another contrasting colour & texture. Warm apple sponge dessert was not warm. After all the fuss with ordering more sauce, my aunt didn’t want to fuss then over the dessert. The food was just ok.
