Very good pub/restaurant, although on arrival at 1pm, the two fish dishes were unavailable, and also by 2pm there was no roast beef available, which is poor so early on in the Sunday lunchtime service, in my opinion. My only concern now is that this could happen again, unless the owners have a plausible explanation for not having sufficient courses available for a known number of covers. Service and staff excellent however.

Hi Mark, thanks for your comments. At this time of the year reservations can be a little unpredictable, and this proved to be the case on Sunday. We do always anticipate late bookings and walk-in customers, but we received such an unexpected influx of last minute reservations for Sunday lunch, that it did have a knock-on effect unfortunately. This is an extremely rare occurence and we can only apologise for the disappointment at the lack of available options. Our chefs have already discussed plans to ensure this doesnt happen again, so we'd love to invite you back soon to enjoy our Sunday roast at its very best.

Quite a long wait for food (40minutes) considering there were only 7 other people in the restaurant who had already got their food. Very pleasant staff and very good impromptu music in the front snug

An excellent evening with very tasty food. Difficult for a restaurant to judge how much of what foods to stock in the off-peak season. Disappointed not to have steak available, but understand a large party had selected all that was available! Would definitely eat at the Lord Nelson again.

A beautiful historic building, away from the crowds on the coast, we found ample parking, welcoming and friendly staff, a light, spacious dining area and a menu with something for everyone. After our meal we were able to sit in one of the several relaxing spaces to continue family time; it was magical! Thank you.
