The Malt Shovel at Barston is a delightful village pub set in picturesque Warwickshire countryside close to the N.E.C. and Solihull. Our busy bar has an easy atmosphere for both drinking and dining with real fires in the winter and a summer patio overlooking the beautiful garden. Our separate restaurant is both relaxed and inviting, situated in a converted barn decorated with natural wood and pastels, perfect for small informal parties and receptions. Our food, prepared by Max and his dedicated team, is cooked with care and presented with flair using fresh seasonal ingredients. He is constantly surprising us with his modern take on traditional dishes and is especially well known for his daily fish specials board. Being privately owned we are passionate about what we do and have built an excellent reputation , both locally and with visitors, for innovation and consistency. We look forward to welcoming you soon!

A visit to the Malt Shovel is always a good one. The only challenge is being able to drag myself away from ordering the fishcakes because they are always delicious! My friend and I sat outside and the service, quality etc was just the same as inside. I am looking forward to my next visit already.

Great little country pub serving great food, really nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. Good value for money.

Food is of a high quality. Prices are on the high side but I am prepared to pay at this level for the quality of the food. The lunchtime I went it was a bit on the quiet side so the atmosphere was limited.

My wife and I dine at The Malt Shovel on special occasions and have never been disappointed. On 25th July we had lunch. For a Monday the restaurant was quite busy with a pleasant ambience. Service was unobtrusive and efficient. The lunch menu could have been a little more extensive but we both chose the Thai chicken and the food and presentation was very good. The pudding menu was excellent. Overall an enjoyable experience and I recommend The Malt Shovel without reservation.

The food was lovely but a bit on the pricey side for what I had, the service let this place down in my opinion as the manager / maitre d was quite uninviting and the waitress seemed like she didn't want to be there, I even caught her rolling her eyes when one of our party was taking a while to choose her main course!
