Lovely room with high ceilings and a barn-like feel. I ordered the branzino and it was to die for. Excellent service as well. A lovely choice for the Upper West Side. We'll be back!

I used to love coming to this restaurant. The food and ambience were amazing. However, the last two times I have been very underwhelmed by the food (That is alot to say given that I am not a foodie and never, never return the food for any reason). I have always had either the trout or branzino. The last two times I was informed that the chef changes the way the regular entrees are prepared, seasoned, and thereby, the taste. I ordered the Branzino last time (standard fare at most restaurants in 2024) and it tasted so FISHY I could not ear. Of course I did not say anything. This was odd because I had loved it the last time I had it there. Two weeks ago, I took my children as it was the last night my daughter was in town and we all love the Milling Room. Again, I looked at the trout and branzino, and based on my last experience, chose the trout. Howeever, it was going to be prepared an entirely different way--no truffles or succulent sauce, but would have the TEXTURE of salmon and simply grilled. I was told at this time that the regular menu is changed every 3 months with tweaks to the standby regular entrees. I was not happy to hear this, but thought, make the best of it. When my trout arrived, it no only looked like a slab of salmon, it had the exact taste. Even though I am not a great fan of salmon, it tasted like salmon (not just looking like it) and had a terrible flavor. Not only was it inedible but the sides presented with the entree were equally terrible. Again, I am not a foodie. I generally will eat anything. I returned the item. I did advise, that the chef ought not change the main entrees so regularly. I will never go back again. It is relatively expensive and not worth the expense given the surprise and underwhelming food one may get. Thumbs down, big. From my favorite restaurant on the West side to a never again!

Not my favorite seasonal menu, but I took my mom and sister here for their first time and we had a great meal/time together. Massive thanks to the kitchen and FOH staffs for staying open for and patient with us as long as they did!

We have dined here several times but this was really an outstanding experience. Everything was delicious, served professionally and the noise level was comfortable. I had the special arugula corn and avocado salad, followed by the duck breast with figs. I loved the large slices instead of the usual many thin slices. It was tender and juicy. The figs were marinated and out of this world. I shared the warm bread pudding with my husband. Delicious. The only negative was the espresso. Watery and tasteless. Our friends loved their meal as well. We enjoyed the whole thing so much we stayed 3 hours!
