Indo-Chinese

While the Chinese have been visiting India for millenniums in search of Buddhist teachings. Yang Tai Chow was the first recorded Chinese to migrate to India for better prospects. In 1778 he put down roads in Kolkata or Calcutta, the then capital of British India and the easiest accessible metropolitan area from China by land. Over the years many like him came, mostly Hakkas, and by the early part of the 20th century a Chinatown had developed in Kolkata and it thrived and buzzed with enterprise. Chinese served with distinct as dentists, tannery owners, sauce manufacturers, beauticians, and shoe shop owners but it was a restaurateurs that the Chinese founds their fame and glory in India

Not Sure what bar indicated the least amount of noise level but the noise was not bad at all inside the restaurant. Will be back the food was outstanding.

The Mint Room is a nice place. This was my fourth visit since I noticed it back in mid/late 2018. This review is my honest assessment of my March 16, 2019 visit. My wife and I arrived slightly before our 8:15 pm reservation. The restaurant was crowded and the bar area was empty. There was no one at the greeting station. I made eye contact with at least 3 staffers but neither of them seemed to take any action knowing that we were standing unattended. After awhile a hostess came from the back and greeted us politely. She ran back to check on where to seat us and then rejoined us and took us to our table. Karl, the manager, came by fairly soon after we were seated to greet us and take our order. We were not ready to order but I ordered a tea. The tea was delivered quickly. There was a period of time that elapsed before Karl returned to take our order. My wife asked if she could have Tandoori Shrimp which was not on the menu and Karl obliged. I ordered the tomato soup and a starter size Tandoori Chicken as my entree. The bar side of the restaurant looked messy to me with the stacked plates and other items in plain view. But the dining side was fine. Our meal arrived after a reasonable time and it was delicious. I joked with Karl that I didn’t like my soup as he took away my empty bowl. I went to the restroom and found it to be unattended and dirty. I was disappointed. The back area was cluttered and an eye sore for customers. We declined dessert but I ordered another tea. I was pleasantly surprised when the bill came and did not note my two teas. The check amount was fair. The Mint Room has great potential to rival its competitors by improving upon the total experience it offers its clients. I rated our experience as good. It should be excellent in my humble opinion.

This is the jewel of Indian food in the Catonsville/Ellicott City area. The food is consistently excellent, the ambiance is outstanding and the servers warm and attentive. We continue to bring new friends who like Indian food to this restaurant and all agree that it is wonderful! They are responsive to preparing food to the degree of spiciness each diner desires. What a find!

Mint room was great but this open table service did not work at all. They had no idea we had a reservation. Not sure which end was the problem but open table did not work for me.

Chef's Biryani was terrific and best of all was the appetizer called Mint Raj Kachori. Onion Naan had plenty of onions. Nice atmosphere, very helpful wait staff. Highly recommend.

This was our second time at Mint Room. Food is good and the staff is generally attentive and helpful. On our first trip we were told they did not have a liquor license but we could bring our own wine next time, so we did. We were not expecting the $20 corkage fee on the bill. We did not bring an expensive bottle of wine and wine was not available to purchase in the restaurant. Something to be aware of. We asked about a colorful beverage we saw being served at another table and they brought a sample for each of us, unexpected but a nice gesture!

the worst experience i had. food was okay but they charged extra named gratuities which was way much higher compare to any Indian or American restaurants. I would suggest to go Royal Taj or Rangoli Instead of
