The Monocle is the closest restaurant to the Capitol building, United States Senate and Union Station. Established in 1960, The Monocle is not only known as a Washington institution, but also for its fine American cuisine-served by a professional and friendly team of servers. You can always count on being served great crab-cakes, grilled fresh fish, prime steaks and chops, while enjoying the powerful political scenery. The private Federal Room is a Washington classic for private parties and political fundraisers. The Wine Room is a cozy room for your intimate private birthday dinner of six to ten. Cheers!

Another excellent meal the The Monocle—a gem on Capitol Hill. Calamari was fresh and a little salty, but good. The pears in the arugula salad were slices of stone, and flavorless—the biggest disappointment. The rockfish and veggies were outstanding, and the bread—as always—was excellent. The pineapple cheesecake is some of the best ever, and the service relaxed and refined.

The Monocle gives you a wonderful sense of history. It he ambience was warm and cozy. The food was flavorful and plentiful. Whenever I hear good portions, I usually equate this to poor food quality, that was not the here. We started with crab imperial and sausage and peppers. Both were delicious. The cocktails were good. I had the White Russian. It was slightly sweet but not overly so. We both had steak. I had the filet and my husband had the ribeye. Both very tasty. We really enjoyed ourselves. We were deciding between two Restruants. We’re very happy we choose The Monocle.

Have been doing lunch at The Monocle on the Hill literally for decades. It's iconic, the service is tremendous, the menu includes some great stuff and Nick always remembers my name!
