The Morris is a new restaurant and bar in a truly unique location. It’s connected to a boutique, 17 room colonial hotel and courtyard located right next to Washington Square Park. We have a scratch kitchen that only uses the freshest ingredients available by season. Our bar program consists of delicious hand-crafted cocktails, organic wines, selection of local beers, and spirit-free beverages. Whether it's for a casual night out, business dinner, or date night, we are so excited to serve you in our newly renovate dining room or in the garden courtyard*!

*We want to inform our guests that the courtyard is fully tented and heated throughout the winter!

The Morris is a comfortable, homespun, Pilgrim style bare wood floors and simple Quaker chairs type of place that reminds me of old Philly. (Have not seen the inside of the charming looking Morris Inn that owns the place ) Simple, yes. Brightly lit, yes. Romantic, no. However, the fresh take on American classics is a welcome blast of sophisticated comfort food that we really enjoyed. Sampled grilled fish, mushroom pot pie with super light crust for vegetarians, duck with a rich white bean stew, brussel sprouts with cranberries and bacon, and a delicious currant pudding for dessert. Nice wine list, friendly staff. Indoor seating plus a heated back tent that was comfortable in a 40 degree night. Seemed like a neighborhood favorite but we heard it was closing. What a shamento.lose such a winner.

The food was very good. Service is very good. It’s a shame. The place is closing tomorrow. Hopefully another restaurant will come in because it’s proximity to the Walnut St theater is excellent.

A most wonderful meal. I will not report any detail since Sunday night is their closing night. I am so sad. I love this place. Everything was top-notch. Every time. Best wishes to all the staff. Even though they only had one more shift, they were giving their all.

Amazing restaurant with the best staff ever. It’s a shame the owners suck and are closing it because they weren’t prepared to pay the best in class staff a living wage.

thanks for that... round of drinks on me when you come in sat/sun sincerely, the owner that hopes not to suck as much in the future

Been to The Morris a few times now and the steak and eggs with potatoes is a must try. Servers are great and helpful. Food takes a little long to prepare compared to some other restaurants but definitely one of my favorites in center city.

Sad to hear The Morris will be closing. First and last time, since they are closing in a few days and I’m not from Philly. Clarence is one of the best waiters I’ve ever had and made the experience that much better. Would highly recommend going before they close their doors.
