The Mussel & Steak Bar is dedicated to serving high quality, fresh and locally sourced seafood & steaks, with warm service and welcoming surroundings. Our restaurant is located at the bottom of Victoria Street in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town, just a few steps from the historic Royal Mile. While enjoying the best mussels, oysters and steaks that Scotland has to offer, you can catch a glimpse of Edinburgh Castle from our window.
Our menu features classic seafood and steak favourites with seasonal Scottish specialties: fresh oysters, kilo pots of steamed mussels, shellfish platters and delicious matured Scotch beef steaks. Sourced from the West to North coast of Scotland you can expect to find seafood specials of lobsters, crabs, langoustines and scallops.

                                Came here from a recommendation and couldn’t be more pleased. Food was amazing staff were so lovely, overall atmosphere and music in the restaurant was amazing too. Would 100% recommend 😊

                                Great food and friendly service. Was delighted that they offered complimentary oysters which tasted really fresh. We have the seafood linguine, ribs and mussels as well as sea bass special. Mussels were awesome. Highly recommend this dining place. Remember to book online!

                                Great tasting food and the service was attentive we had oysters as a taster which was a great experience. Salmon was fabulous and the filet steak was out of this world. Loved it. The staff were great with the right level of attentiveness and brought all we asked with a smile and some light chat. The restaurant is a little cool if you sit in the corridor on the lower floor.

                                Very busy on a Tuesday night. We had the Christmas menu at £50. Quite expensive but the choices available were good value for all three courses. A free oyster each was a nice touch to start. Service pretty good for a busy night.

                                You will not be disappointed with your meal at Mussel & Steak. The complimentary oyster was a lovely touch and very different. I had the lobster and it was amazing. The staff were all excellent and lovely with it.

                                The staff were welcoming and friendly, the restaurant was cosy and inviting and the food was exceptional. We had complementary oysters which were delicious and then I had Cullen Skint soup which was the best soup I’ve ever had it had so much fish in it and was so creamy, followed by the surf and turf, the steak was cooked perfectly and the mussels were delicious - the portions sizes were huge which was a bonus. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and visit again if we go back to Edinburgh

                                Enjoyable experience with delightful, charming and efficient staff. Complimentary oysters to start was a pleasant surprise. The food was generous and delicious.
