The Oakfield is set in a stunning property at the heart of Chester Zoo, making this a truly unique contemporary British pub.

With pride and passion we’ll be serving freshly prepared locally sourced food and hand-picked beers, wines and spirits. The Oakfield has been lovingly restored and our new garden room offers incredible views of our award winning gardens.

    We were in the conservatory which was cold. Asked for a radiator to be turned on as my 83 year old step-dad was uncomfortable but was told it would take an hour before the radiator would heat up even if we did ask staff to radio for it to be switched on.

    After attempting to ring to book for a table of 8 on several occasions and emailing we decided to book 2 tables of 4 online and request that they were sat together. When we arrived we were rudely told that the tables were next to each other but not together as they didn’t have capacity. We informed the lady that we had tried calling several times to which she stated they are only open when the zoo is open (that is when we called)! No apology. Once sat she then proceeded to tell us that because it was 2 separate tables they couldn’t guarantee that our meals would come out at the same time (not sure why that would be so difficult). Service was then incredibly slow, which was frustrating given that the zoo was due to close at 3.30 Overall I’m disappointed with todays experience, especially as I told friends how nice of a place it was and we were there celebrating our daughter’s birthday.

    Overall was good, nice setting and good waiting staff. Problems with the menu, both our dishes weren't on the menu after we had ordered them, as this was part way through lunch service would have been expected to be told from the begining. Reordered and part of one plate had to go back as was cold on arrival, however they had no issue taking it back and quickly sorting it out and all the food tasted nice. Bill was wrong, they seemed to think that 14*2 = 29. Overall little details to improve on.

    Menu was disappointing. Food nowhere near as nice as it used to be. Not value for money I’m afraid. Service was excellent though.

    As usual we had a delicious meal in our favourite restaurant. Service and food were excellent.

    Beautiful restaurant. Very attentive staff giving good service. Our meals were delicious and not too expensive. Would recommend highly if you're visiting the zoo. Make sure you book early though, several people were turned away or had to book in for much later!

    Beautiful building in the grounds of Chester Zoo. Food was excellent, Sunday roast with all the trimmings. Only bad thing was the fact that there were very few people dining, on the other hand it felt as though it was our house with our staff! Waitress was excellent, attentive but not overly.

    Enjoyed Sunday roast recently - one beef, one turkey. Plenty of meat. All hot and very tasty. Thought the charge for the extra gravy was unnecessary though! Staff were courteous and friendly. Overall we enjoyed it very much.

    Wonderful service and food as always, that's why we keep coming back. The Turkey roast was beautiful, cooked to perfection. See you again soon.
