In the late 1800's, the Townsend family came to Chippewa Lake and created the estate that is now The Oaks Lakeside Restaurant. Five prominent oaks that stood in a semi-circle on the front lawn gave the estate its original name: Five Oaks. The estate has operated as a dining establishment and bar since 1961.

The Oaks has become best known for the glorious wedding ceremonies and receptions held exclusively on the property. We are also well known for our traditional Easter, Mother's Day and Thanksgiving Buffets. We take pride in all of our social and business events that we host.

The Oaks offers the finest in al fresco lakeside dining. In the colder months, join us and have a seat next to one of our cozy fires or a lake view table to watch the fall colors or a gentle snow over the lake. No matter what time of year, the sunsets are always incredible. Our seats are often limited, so reservations are advised.

Service was sub par compared to our other visits and for the price as well as it being a buffet we shouldn't have to track down our server multiple times to get our drinks that came after we finished eating. The kids loved all of the characters and attentiveness.

I did not realize that I’d reserved for their last time slot of 3:30pm on Thanksgiving so we took our time going back for the various foods. When I went to get my turkey there was no more gravy and the turkey carver guy said: “that’s it; we won’t be bringing out any more…”; I asked when they were closing and he said soon! I also had to stand in line at the prime rib carving station behind their own staff who were there to fill up all their to-go dinner containers! THAT was so rude and quite tacky. We had to keep asking for water in our 8oz glasses and it seemed like it took forever. Too bad; the setting is gorgeous and the food delicious. The cocktails we ordered at the bar before dinner was excellent! We had to wait around 25 minutes before our table was ready for our 3:30pm RSVP. Just don’t book for 3:30pm on Thanksgiving!

Food was very good, service was horrible never got a drink until we were almost done with our meal. Took about 25 minutes to track down waitress and get bill and then once we did tell her she came back around no bill had to go back after it again. When we received bill it was not what the price was supposed to be. On my confirmation online from open table it stated and was sent that it was 60.00 a person for thanksgiving dinner and when we received the bill it was 65.00 a person. Beautiful place inside for sure. Overall good food poor service and didn’t like the bill was different than what was sent to me in my confirmation.

Our Thanksgiving Buffet was wonderful! Honestly the best turkey I’ve ever had! Tons of great desserts, lots of pies. The prime rib was excellent too. Waitress was great refilled our drinks and cleaned up plates as we went up for 2nds. The staff was great from the hostesses to our waitress to the men working the protein carvers as well as the ladies that were fill up the buffet. Truly a great experience!

Open Table listed price for Thanksgiving buffet as $60 and it was $65. They said it’s always been $65, so I don’t know where the miscommunication came from. In any event, food, staff, overall vibe was wonderful and we will definitely be back! Excellent experience.

Beautifully decorated for the holidays! Always a good restaurant for a special night out. If I had one negative comment, it would be that the wooden chairseats are very hard.
