   My husband & I went to the owl cafe for a post Valentine’s Day dinner. We have been in the past & enjoyed the crab cakes. Unfortunately they were not very good this time. They were covered in a gross thick yellow sauce. So much so that I could barely eat it. Then I ordered a steak for my entree & asked for everything to come plated so none of the food items were touching each other. My entire plate came out covered in the same yellow sauce as the crab cakes. I had to send my food back in order to eat it. By the time I received my meal my husband’s food was cold.

   Staff needs training, hostess seemed clueless & tried to give us plastic ware for dinner. Said kitchen was backed up.

   Well, went there day after Valentines day think we had the left overs from that day. Scallops were rock hard and pasta wasn't fresh cooked. Overall fair

   I have a gluten allergy. Chef Jamie was very accommodating. The staff was aware, and made every effort to provide a safe meal. My food was delicious!!! I had pan seared scallops, creamy Parmesan polenta, and broccolini. My finace had osso buco. Just wow!! Javion, our server, was attentive and knowledgeable. So happy we celebrated Valentine’s Day at The Owl!! Would definitely 👍🏻 recommend!!! Thank you so such a lovely evening.

   The Owl Cafe was our fine dining experience in Apalachicola. The restaurant is on the second floor of a building facing the river. An elevator from the sidewalk level can take you to the restaurant or stairs inside lead up and allow you to see all the activity in the first floor kitchen. Riverfront properties and trees prevented us from seeing the river from the Owl Cafe, but there is an outdoor deck and eating area for warmer weather dining. The dining room was quiet even with quite a few patrons on a January Tuesday. We shared the Owl’s famous crab dip, but we’re not impressed with it. The gumbo was tasty. The catch of the day was mahi-mahi and prepared well. The appetizer crab cakes served as a second entree. We chose a bottle of wine from the special collection which made it more reasonably priced than individual glasses. It was a pleasant evening.

   Never got to go to Owl Cafe because they were unexpectedly closed for multiple consecutive days, even before bad weather arrived.

   Hi Tom, So sorry that you were disappointed. The Tap Room was open on Monday. The Owl Cafe is closed every Monday. Both restaurants were open on Tuesday, both were closed on Wednesday and the Tap Room was open yesterday. Unfortunately, we had water pipes busted and we can't open without water.
