Perched on the hillside offering panoramic views of The Cobb and Jurassic Coast, The Oyster & Fish House is arguably the most picturesque spot in Dorset to enjoy locally sourced fish and seafood. A large terrace wraps around the informal, light and airy dining room offering the perfect al fresco experience with unrivalled views of the coastline.

We support our local fishermen, so you may often see them bringing their catch up to the restaurant. In addition to a selection of snacks and starters, you can expect simply grilled fish on the bone, and of course, the delicious Dorset oysters and shellfish we have on our doorstep. The menu can change twice a day depending on what the fishermen bring to us. Please note we do not serve meat dishes, but we do have vegetarian, vegan and kids dishes available.

Large tables are welcomed, and for bookings of 8 or more we do ask you to pre-order your meal.

For large parties or exclusive hire we offer feast menus which are designed to share. Choose our menus online or we can bespoke one just for you based on what is in season. We offer 3 sharing starters which are placed along the middle of the table, a sharing style main such mixed fish and seafood or surf and turf, and a large sharing-style pudding.
Installations pour groupes privés
We welcome large parties in the restaurant - the largest table we can offer is a table of 20 guests. We also offer exclusive hire of the restaurant for parties and weddings, as well as being licensed for the wedding ceremony to take place in the restaurant or on the deck with the magnificent views of the Jurassic Coast and Cobb Harbour.

A great table by the window. Lovely staff who were very helpful and professional. Food also wonderful and the Portuguese wine. Great location and view.

So gutted that this restaurant is closing soon. We enjoyed our last meal. We have had some fabulous lunches and dinners here over the years. Thank you.

Really excellent fish / seafood menu, served in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere - all with fabulous views over Lyme bay. Everything we ate was delicious, from the popcorn cockles to the mussels to the mackerel to the chocolate mousse. I only held back one star because the vegetable sides were pretty mean portions. But also tasty, which was frustrating. Nice, simple but varied drinks list too.

A lovely early autumn supper. The seafood and fish platter was absolutely delicious . Only regret was that we had no room for chocolate mousse.

My wife and I both enjoyed our meal very much. It is her birthday today and it was very nice to be served the chocolate mousse as a birthday present from the restaurant. In her words: “It made my day!” We will certainly visit the restaurant again next time we’re having a short break in Lyme.

It was a dark and stormy night, and the Oyster and Fish House seemed like the perfect place to hole up for the evening, the welcoming lights shining out over the path up the hill. Unfortunately, the overall experience, disappointingly, didn't live up to our expectations for a Mark Hix restaurant; the ambience was poor, service was patchy and provide by inexperienced staff who preferred to hang around chatting to each other, the wine list was short (not a problem in theory) but ridiculously priced for the quality - corkage next time! The food, however, was enjoyable, especially the oyster (fresh and tempura).
