Situated in the bustling heart of Dupont Circle is The Pembroke, a sophisticated dining destination. Featuring contemporary American fare with global influences, The Washington Post’s food critic Tom Sietsema described the experience as “cut from a different cloth." The Pembroke’s stunning design by Martin Brudnizki features plush velvet coral-toned banquettes around glossy marble tables, cream-paneled walls with playful artwork, and boasts panoramic views of the neighborhood, while a seasonal terrace offers al fresco dining from spring to fall. The marble-topped bar is a bright and airy nod to cocktail bars of the 1950s and features classic drinks with a twist and a selection of fine wines. Reserve your table today to see how “The Pembroke makes Dupont Circle a destination again.”

We were in town to see the Art Nouveau exhibit at the Phillips Collection and Pembroke was our choice for early dinner this cool spring Sunday. This is a beautiful restaurant located in the heart of Dupont Circle -making for great ambiance with floor to ceiling windows and elegant decor. We ordered the genovese pasta richly enhanced with garlic herbal sauce and burrrata cheese, delicious pumpkin soup with crunchy condiments and the spring crispy potatoes in creamy parmesan sauce- all cooked with expertise and finesse- the best culinary experience we have had in sometime. The service was courteous- the manager stopping by to greet and meet- and our server Daniel was very solicitous and attentive. Excellence all around and highly recommended- a real gem on New Hampshire Ave.

Very nice restaurant. We sat in the glass enclosed dining area which was lovely. Ordered four entrees for 3 of us to try. The omelette, avocado toast, and lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes were all very good. Surprisingly the simplest entree, the American breakfast was not good. Eggs were fine, bacon was ok, kale was fishy (fish sauce?) and unappetizing, and potatoes were cold and flavorless. Would go back for the atmosphere and probably avoid the simpler menu items.

Dear Alysa, Thank you for your thoughtful review! We're so glad you enjoyed the glass-enclosed dining area and that most of your dishes were a hit. We appreciate your honest feedback on the American breakfast—your insights help us improve, and we’ll be sure to look into those concerns. We’d love to welcome you back for another great experience and hope to impress you even more next time! Warm Regards, The Pembroke Team

I really wanted to love this restaurant, but it fell short in several areas. For starters, the ambiance was a major drawback—it was so dimly lit that it became more of a distraction than a cozy atmosphere. It’s one thing to create mood lighting, but this was just impractical and made it hard to fully appreciate the dining experience. On the positive side, our server was a standout. He was charming, attentive, and seemed genuinely invested in ensuring we had a good evening. However, the service times were quite uneven, which detracted from the otherwise delightful interaction. Some dishes arrived promptly, while others seemed to take an eternity, leaving us wondering if there were issues in the kitchen. As for the food, it was...fine. The dishes were well-prepared, but nothing about them stood out as exceptional. Given the high price point, I was expecting something memorable—perhaps creative presentations, bold flavors, or unique ingredients. Instead, what we got was food that, while good, felt fairly ordinary. For the price, it didn’t feel like a good value at all. Overall, while there were some high points, the combination of dim lighting, uneven service, and underwhelming food for the cost made this an experience I’m not eager to repeat.

Dear Ian, Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. While we’re delighted to hear that your server made a great impression, we’re sorry that other aspects of your experience didn’t meet expectations. We appreciate your input on the lighting, service timing, and food, and we’ll certainly take it into account as we work to improve. Our goal is to create a memorable and well-rounded dining experience, and we regret that we fell short. We truly value your perspective and hope you might consider giving us another chance in the future. Sincerely, The Pembroke Team

The gorgeous aesthetics are what I initially saw online (and made me want to go) before going - but when I arrived realized it was prettier and sexier than the pictures. Add to that excellent service and great food and I know I'll go back next time I'm in DC.

The Pembrook delivers an absolutely exceptional dining experience, especially for their Sunday Supper series. From the moment we walked in, we were struck by the fantastic ambiance—warm, inviting, and perfectly suited for a relaxed yet refined evening. The service was top-notch, with Eric ensuring that every detail was taken care of. Tom, the GM, also stopped by the table a few times to check in and provide an overview of the dishes. They were attentive without being intrusive and made sure our table had everything we needed. Their professionalism and friendly attitude truly elevated the experience. And then there was the food—simply outstanding. Christian in the kitchen outdid himself, delivering Irish dishes that were flavorful, beautifully presented, and clearly made with skill and care. Every bite was a reminder of why The Pembrook is such a special place. If you’re looking for an incredible meal with impeccable service, amazing food, and an atmosphere that makes you want to linger, The Pembrook is the place to be. Highly recommended!

Loved their breakfast sandwich( one of the best I have had) , the only reason it’s not a 5 star was because of the drink- the espresso martini was so sweet it was hard to drink. I will def. Be back in the summer to enjoy the outdoor seating
