Fondée en 1728, la taverne historique The Red Fox Inn & Tavern accueille les habitants et les voyageurs à Middleburg, aussi bien pour profiter de déjeuners copieux, que de dîners décontractés ou encore d'intimes soupers aux chandelles, dans la plus pure tradition de Virginie. Les tables de chêne, le mobilier artisanal, les cheminées en pierre, les poutres apparentes taillées à la main et les murs épais en pierres des champs créent autour de vous une ambiance de salle à manger conviviale à tout moment de la journée.     Outstanding experience. Drinks are crafted with care, hand-stuffed bleu cheese olives in martinis was a huge plus. We had the set Valentine's Day dinner. Oysters Rockefeller were outstanding, seasoned very nicely. Lobster bisque and seared sea scallops were tremendous. Strip steak was cooked perfectly with garlic butter. We ordered the lobster mac and cheese as a side--delicious. Olive oil cake with whipped cream for desert was fabulous. Maria, our server, was outstanding. Very professional, polite, and accommodating. She could not have been better, really made the whole experience special.

    Our fav restaurant except yesterday encountered mediocre service (may be they are having bad day) and host not able to accommodate (though it’s empty) our regular spot 🙂 Will visit again

    It took more than 45 minutes to get our first round of drinks at the table and we were only one of two tables in the whole place. Appetizers came out cold. The manager did come over and apologize and things got better but not the first impression you want for a very pricey dinner

    My wife and I were joined by another couple to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary with a dinner at The Red Fox Inn & Tavern. The atmosphere was warm and quaint and the service was friendly, welcoming and attentive. We started with the spiced pear and butternut squash salad and the baby beets & stracciatella, and for our main course we had the grilled rack of lamb and the pecan curry crusted halibut. Everything was cooked perfectly and was absolutely delicious. If you are in the Middleburg,(VA) area, do yourself a favor and make a reservation at the Red Fox Inn & Tavern. Or better yet, do yourself a favor and find a reason to go to Middleburg, VA, so you can eat there!

    Lovely old tavern. Really great food and good service. Only issue is price, which was quite high, even by DC standards. We love to dine out and we have been to many of the areas best restaurants over the years. This ranks right up there with the best in terms of food quality, but the prices are out of line. They strike me as exclusionary rather than production related. Nonetheless, if you want a excellent meal in nostalgic" old money" surroundings, this is your place.

    This was our second time at the Red Fox Inn in less than a month. I have to say, this time wasn’t quite as exceptional as the first one, although it was still very satisfactory. Our first time was absolutely perfect from start to finish, from service to food to wine pairing and absolutely everything in between. This time, we got the holiday tasting menu, which was $189 pp. We did not get the wine pairing although we did order two bottles for the table. The sesame and peanut crusted tuna was out of this world, while the candied pecan and fried goat cheese salad was a bit more common and had a bit too much vinegar to my liking. The venison was very tender, but although I ordered it medium, it came a little too bloody to my liking (I didn’t send it back so that is on me). The raisin sauce did not complement the venison too well in my opinion — while venison certainly calls for a sweet sauce, the raisin one wasn’t necessarily the best option for my particular taste. Dessert was very good as usual. I was a tad disappointed in that this menu was $100 more per person than the previous 4 course tasting menu we had tried, however the food was better and more subtle the previous time around, in my opinion — except for the tuna dish which was the best tuna I have ever had. Service was very good. To be clear, this was a very enjoyable experience. I am just giving feedback on this particular experience, based on this particular holiday menu and at this price. I would still absolutely recommend this place to any real foodie in the area — this is the best table we have found so far in its category in the area.
