Fondée en 1728, la taverne historique The Red Fox Inn & Tavern accueille les habitants et les voyageurs à Middleburg, aussi bien pour profiter de déjeuners copieux, que de dîners décontractés ou encore d'intimes soupers aux chandelles, dans la plus pure tradition de Virginie. Les tables de chêne, le mobilier artisanal, les cheminées en pierre, les poutres apparentes taillées à la main et les murs épais en pierres des champs créent autour de vous une ambiance de salle à manger conviviale à tout moment de la journée.     Lovely old tavern. Really great food and good service. Only issue is price, which was quite high, even by DC standards. We love to dine out and we have been to many of the areas best restaurants over the years. This ranks right up there with the best in terms of food quality, but the prices are out of line. They strike me as exclusionary rather than production related. Nonetheless, if you want a excellent meal in nostalgic" old money" surroundings, this is your place.

    This was our second time at the Red Fox Inn in less than a month. I have to say, this time wasn’t quite as exceptional as the first one, although it was still very satisfactory. Our first time was absolutely perfect from start to finish, from service to food to wine pairing and absolutely everything in between. This time, we got the holiday tasting menu, which was $189 pp. We did not get the wine pairing although we did order two bottles for the table. The sesame and peanut crusted tuna was out of this world, while the candied pecan and fried goat cheese salad was a bit more common and had a bit too much vinegar to my liking. The venison was very tender, but although I ordered it medium, it came a little too bloody to my liking (I didn’t send it back so that is on me). The raisin sauce did not complement the venison too well in my opinion — while venison certainly calls for a sweet sauce, the raisin one wasn’t necessarily the best option for my particular taste. Dessert was very good as usual. I was a tad disappointed in that this menu was $100 more per person than the previous 4 course tasting menu we had tried, however the food was better and more subtle the previous time around, in my opinion — except for the tuna dish which was the best tuna I have ever had. Service was very good. To be clear, this was a very enjoyable experience. I am just giving feedback on this particular experience, based on this particular holiday menu and at this price. I would still absolutely recommend this place to any real foodie in the area — this is the best table we have found so far in its category in the area.

    We were looking forward to our experience as I remember a very different Red Fox Inn from my childhood. The building and ambiance are beautiful, but the Surf and Turf was terrible and, aside from the oysters Rockefeller, everything was mediocre. Our bill for two people was just under $800 (excluding tip). I would expect fine dining in comfortable seating for such a bill. I support your restaurant, but the menu must be revamped. Far too expensive for little value.

    Food is always delicious and the service is spot on. I feel that for what you get it's over priced. $580.00 plus Tip for 2 people 3 course dinner with wine pairing.

    The seasonal menu was outstanding. We had the scallops one night and lamb another when our existing reservations elsewhere were cancelled due to a water issue. Our favorite was the bibb lettuce salad with pear and nuts. The chocolate dessert was not too much at the end of four courses. Highly recommend!!!

    Ambience and setting is very nice for a very nice date night. Service was okay. Received our first course before being served our drink orders. First course of a two-course prepaid meal was almost finished before our wine and drink got to the table. Restaurant was not busy at all. Food was okay but everything we ate was overly sweet (duck and halibut). Prices were high for drinks that were okay.
