We receive daily deliveries and hand craft every item that hits your table. The Reel also has a variety of non-seafood options making it easy for everyone to enjoy. The Caddell family has been in the restaurant industry for 25+ years and were very excited to bring you a high-quality seafood restaurant in New Braunfels and Bulverde. Love eating at The Reel but this time was different. Menu has changed a lot! The Reel Platter has cut out stuffed crab and stuffed shrimp but hasn't cut the price! I go to eat those items and the server's reason for excluding them was that they didn't sell well? They were on a platter with shrimp, oysters and catfish so how could they tell that those two items sold less well than the other stuff? She said the seafood fried fritters under appetizers was where they put the stuffing instead. This made no sense but I didn't argue or question what she said. It was a Thursday night but other Thursdays have been full of people at 6:30 and this last time the place was mostly empty. Not sure what's going on but we will look around for a place that offers the food we like. The raw blue point oysters were excellent and the fried shrimp and oysters were good ( we skipped the expensive platter with nothing on it). We will see if there aren't other restaurant options that serve what we like.

First time we tried the Sunday brunch and it was wonderful. The food was superb with a great selection, the drinks were perfect and the service was impeccable. A great experience which we greatly enjoyed and highly recommend.

Brian was our server and I got to tell you that he's been the very best server that we've had in a number of years in restaurants here in San Antonio and New Braunfels he was energetic happy pleasing enthusiastic and was absolutely trying to sell us on every aspect of the restaurant not in a bad way in a good way informative about all the different venues and and things on the menu as well as sunday's brunch and Saturdays live music etc very pleasant dinner he was great and will be back again because of Brian.

Excellent place to eat. I am one who has to watch my carbohydrates and it’s pretty easy to do except for rice and French fries. The lobster bisque is to die for.

We went to The Reel late around 8 pm on a Tuesday. Kitchen was closing but our server Bryan was ecstatic to greet us. He recommended some appetizers and drinks to begin our meal and we sipped before the seafood fritters arrived. Think of a seafood hush puppy. After we placed an order for another round and the redfish and the trout. Both were delicious, but I’ve been here before and know they can do better. I just attribute it to me coming as the kitchen was getting ready to shutdown. Luckily enough they gave us some to go dessert and waters to keep us satisfied until we arrived home. Love the restraint. 4.8 overall from my experiences.

Service was adequate. Food is overpriced for the quality. $40 dollars for an 8oz ribeye that was thin, tough, and barely seasoned. $33 for the scallops and fish which was mediocre. I ordered a 7/7 to drink. It was crystal clear like water and just tasted like sprite. I sent it back to the bar and got it back still almost crystal clear with barely a taste of whisky. This is the second time we tried this restaurant. The first time wasn't any better than this second time. Same issues with the drinks and food. Won't be going back for a third.
