Service can be improved; forgetful waitresses. Watch out for eggshells in your dishes. Cool hotel vibe.

Dear Yasmin, Thank you for reaching out with your honest feedback. I’m truly sorry to hear about your disappointing experience and sincerely regret that we fell short of your expectations, especially during an important business meeting. The service missteps you described, from incomplete orders to lack of attentiveness, are certainly not reflective of the high standards we strive for. Additionally, the food quality concerns you raised are unacceptable, and I will be addressing them with our kitchen and service teams immediately to ensure improvements are made. Your experience is not the standard we want for our guests. I truly appreciate your feedback and hope we can restore your confidence in dining with us. Best regards, The Restaurant team

Everything was fine, pleasant. We had a lovely surprise when the waiter appeared with a small cake and sang happy birthday as he had picked up that it was my partner’s birthday. My step daughter asked for a second piece of bread to go with her mushroom terrine. When the bill came, it was dark and I just paid but, when I reviewed the receipt later, we had been charged £12 for the cake we hadn’t asked for and £10 for the second piece of bread! That £22 pushed the bill for one course for four people to over £200! It also, on principle, means we won’t go back!

Dear Jenny, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re pleased to hear that you enjoyed the atmosphere and service, and that our team was able to make your celebration feel special. However, we sincerely regret that the additional charges left you feeling disappointed. It’s never our intention for a thoughtful gesture—like the birthday cake—to feel anything less than genuine, and we completely understand your frustration. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the bread charge, as transparency is key to a positive dining experience. Your comments have been shared with our management team to ensure clearer communication in the future. We truly value your visit and would love the opportunity to welcome you back for a better experience. Best regards, The Restaurant team

Disappointed with the service and overall quality for an expensive Hôtel restaurant. It was a valentines dinner with my wife however we felt that the service was not up to standard of a five star hotel. The quality of the food in particular the valentines menu did not live up to the promise of the menu. The liver parfait simply tasted of butter (too much butter compared to liver), the lobster was over-powered by the other flavours of the dish. The food and in particular the desserts were beautifully presented but lacked flavour. The most flavoursome aspect of the Black Forest dessert was a tiny cherry - very sadly the rest of the dish had no cherry flavour. When asked how our food was, there was no follow up or interest to our answers at all - it was simply a token question. I hope the restaurant takes the feedback on board as there is a lot of promise but poor execution.

This is a good restaurant, the food on the whole was enjoyable, the service and the ambience were good. There is room for improvement though. The food was more of a mixed bag than it might have been. My bouillebasse and my wife’s apple soufflé dessert were wonderful, but my starter of scallop (note the singular) was made up of a group of flavours that just didn’t meld. My dessert, “Black Forest” looked fantastic, but some components didn’t taste very much of anything. Service was very efficient (on Valentine’s night I suppose one might expect it to be), and the ambience was pleasant enough. Overall, pleasant enough, but I don’t think we will be rushing back.

Table booked for 6.30 after we had been to a matinee. The restaurant was fairly busy but noise levels were okay (we had chose carefully because we had wanted a quieter environment) and it was even quieter an hour later (when we assume some evening theatre goers vacated) but still enough tables for a nice atmosphere. The food was well presented, well cooked and tasty, and we thought a fair price, the cocktails and wine were also a fair price. We were served by a few different staff, who were friendly and attentive enough. Luckily we had only chosen two starters to share between three of us, as when we asked for the bill my husband was presented with a candle-lit birthday cake - a very nice touch. Would definitely recommend. Next time I want to visit their secrete (ish) bar.
