Set on Mitchell Hill, a medieval route from the city of Truro to the East, in a quiet, historical quarter, The Rising Sun is the hub of the local community and a destination for visitors to the county. Surrounded by charming lanes with views to the cathedral, diverse historical buildings, an abundance of trees and greenery.
Seven years ago Katie & Tom Hannon stepped into a very dark and sad shell of a pub. An overwhelming amount of work paled into insignificance against the excitement at what they thought could be created in this out of the way building with a very long and interesting history. A lot of hard labour ensued to create their vision of showcasing the best qualities of a modern pub; seamlessly combining carefully sourced, sophisticated yet familiar food and drink in a welcoming authentic pub environment. Elegant, delicious food alongside fantastic local beers, unusual wines and a great array of craft spirits all wrapped up in a relaxed atmosphere.

A lovely quirky pub- good atmosphere but mind your head on the low beams if you are a tall person. The food was delicious- cooked beautifully and very tasty. Portion sizes were on the small side as the menu is mostly a la carte and is not that extensive. It was expensive- £101 for 2 main meals, 1 dessert and 4 drinks!! Lovely for an extra special occasion.

As usual, the most delicious food served by wonderful staff who are always the same. Definitely a night to remember ❤️❤️

We always look forward to eating at the Rising Sun when we are in Cornwall, so much so that we stay in a hotel around the corner. The food is usually amazing, great choice of wines and the team takes pride in their work. Sadly it appears to have lost its mojo across the board. Hopefully just a bad night but rather disappointing for us who travelled 200 miles.

worth the hype I was given from people who had been there before and recommended it. the service was friendly and efficient and little touches like a brioche before the meal were lovely. Maybe my choice of meal, but I felt that my food was a little overpriced for what was basically two chicken breast fillets, but worth it on the other hand for the experience that is The Rising Sun !

Fantastic food from the pretzel bread onwards. The crab ravioli was superb as was the onion tarte tartin. Warm and welcoming.

We have dined at the Rising Sun on many occasions and never been disappointed. The staff are amazing and make you feel really welcome. The menu is always updated with specials and the quality is excellent. Well done!

My Wife and I went for dinner, midweek for her birthday, The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The food was delicious, perfectly cooked and presented, with wonderful flavour combinations. We had a lovely evening.
