   Appalling first experience at The Ship. Met with a scowl from a waitress who walked away us and into other room. Shown to table by a pleasant waiter. Service was incredibly slow, yet staff were seen to be chatting behind the bar several times. Starter of sharing board of bread and oils was nice, but the wine we'd ordered to come with the meal didn't come until we reminded them after we'd finished our starter. The place was getting very noisy at this point with Christmas parties. We waited ages for our mains (well over an hour from our arrival). My partner's fish and chips was chip shop standard with greasy fish. My risotto with steak was inedible, it was so salty, swimming in oil, and the two mouthfuls of steak I tried were pure fat and gristle. I left my meal. No one came to ask how we were enjoying the food. A different waitress came and asked if we were finished. I told her I couldn't eat mine and she said she couldn't do anything but would send manager. Manager skulked over apologetically and said we could have pudding on the house. But they didn't come back to take our dessert order for another 20 minutes and by that point we were so fed up, having been there for hours, that we asked for the bill. That was brought but no one came to take payment, so I left it on the bar with the manager and sarcastically thanked him for a crap and expensive night (bill for one starter, one main, two drinks on arrival and their cheapest bottle of wine came to £70!) and the waiter beside him made fun of me, saying "uh oh" as I turned away. Completely traumatised by such an unpleasant evening which was meant to be a relaxing date night. Never going back!!!

   Turkey was gorgeous ,flavoursome and tender . place was packed ,very noisy but nice to see .Service was quick and friendly .

   Lovely place. Food delicious and our server was friendly. A little bit pricey for us but it’s great as a treat. Service took a little longer than expected but we still had a lovely time. Would recommend.

   We went for the Tapas evening and the food was fantastic! Great choice to suit everyone and we enjoyed every option - we had 12 between 4 of us. The service was friendly and efficient and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole evening. Thank you
