The Ship Inn is an oak-beamed country pub and restaurant, with a large open-fire place, built in 1681 in the picturesque Hampshire village of Owslebury (ten minutes from Winchester).
The Ship Inn, Owslebury provides a great venue for wedding receptions, birthday parties, Christmas parties and other events, with both an inside and outside kitchen. Events can be held in either the restaurant or a marquee in the garden.
Chef Philip Brown has pub kitchens in his DNA. He was Head Chef at The Royal Oak in Cheltenham, lifting the kitchen, and the pub, from obscurity to somewhere renowned across the county for its food.
His current position as Head Chef of The Ship Inn is the culmination of fifteen years of menu refining, flavour combinations and taste tests, to bring you a menu combining classic comfort food and exceptional dishes designed to impress - bringing a taste of fine dining to your pub dinner in this traditional setting.

    Friendly and welcoming staff in this lovely quaint pub. We had a couple of drinks and dinner in the charming old bar. Great local to visit.

    Our roast dinners were ok but rather than provide a tiny portion of half a dozen vegetables (one carrot, one parsnip etc) they would be better serving a decent portion of fewer vegetables. Also gravy should be served separately and not automatically put on everything. Whilst staff were all friendly the service was lacking. We had to ask for cutlery, condiments, sauces, water glasses. They seemed to lack any forethought. Having provided the bill we had to go to the bar to pay as they didn’t return to our table. In summary there wasn’t anyone who seemed in charge and responsible for the table service.

    The Ship was warm and cosy when we walked in and received a friendly welcome. The menu was diverse yet not overwhelming. Although we were disappointed (but not surprised!) that the pigs in blanket sharer was sold out, we had the bread and oils instead which were unbelievably good - it made us go home and try to make a similar bread! The best bread, butter and oils we’ve gad in a ling time. The mains came out - pie of the day (chicken and chorizo) and sausage and mash - and we were blown away. Everything was cooked so well and tasted amazing! The food was the best part of our entire weekend holiday and we would eat here again inna heartbeat!

    As usual food was excellent. The ambience is lovely with locals and visitors interacting. Lovely log fire and warm and welcoming y the staff

    Had a lovely walk to the ship on Sunday. Food was delicious and hearty and service was great. A lovely reliable local pub and very pleasant staff

    A lovely country pub. We sat inside but there are plenty of seats and outside area for children. Although busy the staff were friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and arrived quickly, hot and on time. The lamb was delicious and the baked cookie dough dessert yummy.

    The food and staff were great. We were on a holiday in the area and had our dog with us. We found a comfy corner in the bar area as he’s a big boy. We booked, worth doing. Highly recommend the pub.

    Very good provision for dog owners. Lovely setting and characterful building. Good outside area for children and seating generally. Food is the main draw as the gastro pub fare was exceptional.
