   Valentines Day and my birthday. We usually stay in, but decided to venture out and made a reservation. We were seated in a very small room upstairs with only 3 tables. One other couple was seated with us, so it was nice and quiet. Walking up and down the dark stairs was a small problem for me, but I managed. Our waitress, Madelyn, was pleasant and accommodating. The menu was a bit limited due to the holiday, and they had a couple specials, twin lobster tails for $120 or $130 or filet with lobster for the same price. They gave us 2 small rolls with hummus, dipping oil and a tapenade. That was good. We could get additional bread for $5. The romaine wedge was fresh, plentiful and delicious. I love Maytag blue cheese dressing. I was not a fan of the menu selections. On this evening they did not offer the hangar steak, unfortunately, and Im not fond of fillet. The other 2 steak options were a 20 oz and 16 oz for $60 and $70. They had a couple lamb options. For seafood they had a paella, bouillabaisse and cioppino that had a spicy sauce tomate. I opted for the salmon dinner for $28 that was served with broccolini and fingerling potatoes over the salmon stuffed with crab $60. I was really looking forward to a basic seafood with risotto offering or a steak 10-12 oz. The entree prices were $28/30 or $60 with nothing in between. My husband got the short rib entree $30 with same sides. Our meals were ok, nothing stellar. While I'm sure some will enjoy the menu, it was not for us, therefore we won’t be back. My suggestion would be to offer one or two simpler items, smaller steaks, basic seafood options.

   It was a great experience. Excellent food and service. It had been 7 or 8 years since we were last at The Standard and it was like a different restaurant.

   As usual the food and details were perfect. I have never wanted to try grilled sardines before…how can you grill those little cans of sardines? Then I tried REAL sardines…amazing to have it grilled and prepared exactly the way they should be. Many thanks to the chef who is amazing to surprise us with ways to expand our palates and tastes. And as always, it is a joy to be taken care of by our server Nicole, who always seems to know the direction to lead us in the dinner courses to make us happy we went to The Standard.

   Second time here and it’s probably the best hidden gem we’ve found. Staff is friendly, food is amazing, wine list so so but something for every one. Looking forward to coming back!

   Our server Max and the food was good , however a heated argument broke out between two separate tables , and the manager came around and provided/offered a free drink to everyone in our section but us, including the tables that were fighting... she did not even stop over to check on us like she did the other tables after the overwhelming ordeal ( even after my husband asked the waiter to speak with HER). This was after issues with our reserved seating.

   The Standard should be called the Gold Standard. The food, service, and atmosphere are always perfect. Last night was no exception. I splurged a bit on their special: Chilean Sea bass over a lemon risotto. The fish, a very generous portion, was cooked to perfection. My husband had salmon that was also prepared expertly. Dessert was a shared slice of decadent cheesecake. Add some yummy craft cocktails, and the result is a great evening! Highly recommend. We are not quite sure how a few people have reviewed this place unfavorably. Well, one person was dissatisfied because they ordered their steak well done, and it wasn't cooked to their liking, so that's on them. Another person felt that, and I quote, "the clientele wasn't what we expected at a $100 per person restaurant." BOO to them. Keep doing what you do, Standard. We approve!!

    What a great gem to have in this part of the community! We love coming to the standard. The food is outstanding. The selection and menu are amazing. We always run into friends there and in the warm weather, especially enjoy sitting out back on the patio with music. You always have such great specials to go with the most extensive menu anywhere. Great bar, great wine selections, great staff and great atmosphere all wrapped around the best food in the land - we really appreciate the standard!
