The origin of The Story Café emerged from the mantra “There is a story in everything”
So in 2018 when we fell upon a 30 year old warehouse, we saw the potential to transform the abandoned space into a warm, hospitable, unique eatery. Through consistent innovation, research and dedication we managed to blend our affinity for coffee, music, food and antique into a ambient mélange of vintage and nostalgia. Today, we proudly present our eatery to newcomers and are considered a staple in the Richmond community!

It’s all about the server for me. Timothy was our server. Table 11, check 150 on March 14, 2025. Very, very knowledgeable about our drinks and pairing with the food. Excellent night. My party of 4 were all in agreement, our server and his advice made our night. Love it.

nice cozy atmosphere a nice getaway from the typical Richmond scene. our waitress was good and polite. the staff don't look like they want to be there although they try their best to be polite and courteous. it's good that they have lots of staff though. overall they're pleasant energetic not sure if it is work pressure or something. Food is very disappointing. I thought that the Valentine's Day special was not ideal because perhaps it was not typical dishes. usually the food come pretty cold or at best warm. the burger patty has a strange oil taste not sure if it's oil or the kind of oil that was used. the bun can be slightly more toasted. mushroom was not really cooked or grilled. taste like it's just from the can. cactus club or earls on average will be better quality food-wise. the linguine pasta was a bit soggy. not Al Dente. presentation was good for everything but the cooking skill can really use a lot more work and training. perhaps quality of the pasta and bun. it happened to be Chinese music night. I appreciate the effort. they are on key most of the time. but it feels like I'm hearing a buddy who is okay at singing karaoke. perhaps they're relatively new? the convenient location if you're in Richmond a nice little getaway. if you're there for drinks and not to pick up music a good place to have fun time with a group of friends. not sure if you will impress your date though. I would go there with friends perhaps just for drink maybe some light snacks but not for a nice dinner when Im hungry and expect some high quality food that you would think you will get from the environment and the staff presentation.

The servers are very friendly and a slice cake with greeting note is a thoughtful idea for guests to celebrate special occasion. Indoor ambience has nice lighting and decoration; hopefully, outdoor patio can have more warmth lighting.

A great gem in a tucked away location. Enjoyed our appies and entrees. Lots of variety on the menu - something for everyone. Lovely service - we will return for sure.

We were sitting in the enclosed outdoor patio seating when it began to rain. We unfortunately were also getting wet as the outside facing "wall" is mesh. The restaurant was only to happy to move us away from there, still on the patio and it was warm with all the outdoor heating. The food & service were very good and would certainly to again. We were celebrating a birthday and everything went well.

A true gem. Incredible nostalgia visually stunning , mouth watering fine dining quality food plates, high value for price. Friendly service. Accessible parking. We will be back. Worth the reservation.

Lots of menu choices, Pasta, Seafood , Burgers, Pizza and more. Service was great, swift and friendly. We had a salmon burger and Lasagna and both exceded expexctations. We will be back maybe stay later and enjoy the music.

Went here for my birthday dinner and ordered the French Onion soup, a salad, mushroom burger and finally the tomahawk steak. Everything was delicious; the tomahawk was cooked perfectly! Had a wonderful evening!
