Established in 1985, and located on Raglan Street, just off Princess Square in the heart of Harrogate, The Tannin Level is one of Harrogate's best loved and most renowned restaurants. Known for its wines (its name is a wine term after all!) as well as its food, it has garnered an enviable reputation amongst the towns sophisticated 'foodies'. The Tannin Level has a certain style and an unmistakable elegance, and its many original features combine to create the unique Tannin Level ambience.
The food is modern British with a Tannin Level twist, utilising only the very best seasonal ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible. As you might expect, all our food is freshly prepared by our chefs, which also means that if you have any special requirements, we can usually oblige. We had a really lovely evening, great atmosphere, great food and great service. Would definitely recommend, we will be back soon.

We have visited the Tannin Level over the past 20 years, usually taking guests and it has never disappointed.

Very good starter and pudding Very quiet on arrival and not much atmosphere but appreciate it was mid week as it got busier service suffered - had to chase courses and the bill Pleased with the meal but would not be rushing back at full menu

Food is delicious. Many gluten free options including an amazing sticky toffee pudding. Great service. Eat here whenever visiting Harrogate and definitely recommend.

The oysters were outstanding and both the cod and the guinea fowl very good indeed. The staff were pleasant as was the atmosphere. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back.

Lovely food , shame the staff were getting ready for the next day at 8.30 in a Friday evening, which spoilt the ambience slightly . Other than great it’s a great place

As ever, a wonderful dining experience at the Tannin Level. The crab starters were exquisite followed by the Venison and the Market day fish. I'm not normally a sweet man, but the milk and honey dessert was wonderful. Sam and his team provided excellent service throughout our evening and made us feel very welcome. Always a wonderful ambience at the Tannin level - a real gem of a restaurant in Harrogate.

The staff explained that they were short staffed and there would be a delay. This was accurate and they came several times to apologise This was the only negative and we will be back to a great restaurant
