Lovely starter goats cheese and beetroot. Mains not do good, wasn't ask how I would like my steak cooked! Risotto was more like rice with mushrooms , not really a Risotto

A Hidden Gem – More Than Just a Hotel Restaurant I hadn’t dined in a hotel restaurant for quite some time, but I was pleasantly surprised by both the quality of the food and the overall experience. It certainly doesn’t feel like a typical hotel restaurant – the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the attention to detail is evident. The food was excellent, with every dish beautifully presented and full of flavour. What truly stood out was the service – the staff were ever so friendly, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. A fantastic dining spot that exceeded expectations! Would highly recommend.

New Year’s Eve :- For a hotel that was very busy the restaurant was very quiet. We had booked for convenience. On arrival guests were asking at reception about places to eat. Strange situation where reception staff were recommending pub across road and making hardly any attempt to upsell their own restaurant . A 10% ticket was offered at the end of arrival which in hindsight would have not been enough but no mention of of “shall we book you in”. If that was my hotel I would have been disappointed . We actually check out the pub accross the road and ended up deciding to eat in the hotel as it was advertised that there was a New Year’s Eve event on in the hotel so we thought there might be some atmosphere. Arriving at restaurant there seemed to skeleton staff on, same staff were waiting on tables as were running bar so we waited to be seated and the. Waited for menus and then waited and waited and waited for order to be taken. Considering amount of table wait time was ridiculous . In this time we had adri k each vodka and coke and one glass of wine = £21. So food ordered we just went for 2 main courses rib eye steak and fish and chips . Steak : 1 third of it was fat . I had asked for medium to well done , the steak was on the burnt side of well done . In all fairness the steak what could eat was ok. Accompanied by some skinned fries a mush room and a Tomato . Again, ok, but maybe an onion ring ?? My partner had fish and chips which was an utter disgrace . On being served the waiter said “this looks tiny” (which it was) we are investigating in the kitchen and he came back to say they were “cooking more.” Nice gesture but shouldn’t have bothered what was served was inedible mess. It didn’t look or taste like fish. It had consistency of wall paper paste in hardened batter . In terms of complaining we are very British and hate it but to be fair the restaurant didn’t charge us for either. Whole experience felt like food was an after thought . Happy new year !!!
