   Over the last several years we have dined at The Terrace each time we came to Waikiki. This time I must say I was a bit disappointed. Located on the 7th? Floor of The Ritz-Carlton Residences, one expects exceptional service. Despite making this reservation for my birthday breakfast several months back, we were seated as far from the view as possible. My view was actually of a mirror which revealed just a bit of the spectacular view available to others. Our breakfast came quickly, so much so we had not yet received our coffee. My order came without the side of bacon which was to be included. The sauce on my lemon pancakes was delicious but was it really intended to be served without syrup? The sauce was long gone by the time I dug into the 3rd pancake. Nice atmosphere and food was above average, but service made it so it was not worth the $100 bill for two modest breakfasts.

   This was the most disappointing fine dining experience I have ever had. We waited about 45 minutes for our first course, and another half hour for the second. The meal took about 3 hours for 5 courses in total. Granted, we were comped a bottle of wine and given a free glass of Rosé but the food itself was subpar, and we were not given a straight answer as to how much longer our meal would be. The servers were kind and apologetic, but everyone in the restaurant who ordered the tasting menu was stuck without food for an extensive period of time wondering if we should just cancel and leave. On top of all that, the meal was not particularly good. It wasn’t necessarily bad, but for $125 per person before tax and tip it was far below the quality you would expect. We went for a birthday celebration and the chef refused to put a candle in the dessert. It seemed as though it was just a very off night for the restaurant all around, but I could never recommend this restaurant to someone in good conscience.

   Great view of Waikiki sunset and nice ambience but the praise stops there. Service was very slow and some the food mains were tiny. I had a seafood risotto as main but it hardly had any seafood in a tiny risotto plate. I had risotto appetizers that were bigger portions. Also the hostess at the reception told me that they took note of my gluten allergy when I made the reservation. However that note apparently went nowhere since the server had no clue about it and didn’t know anything about which menu items are or could be made gluten free. Very disappointing for an upscale restaurant with high prices.

   Frogs legs and pork belly were amazing. The two fish dishes we had were good but didn’t blow me away. The deserts similarly were good but not exceptional. The view was amazing, but the highlight was Delila our waitress and Daniel the barman was incredible with his knowledge and skill with cocktails and flavours.

    Our server Kaia was amazing. She did an amazing job taking care of us and ensured we were well attended to while not being overly present. It was an amazing experience and her personality really drove home our meal. The food was delectable, perfectly portioned and cooked to perfection!!! 100/10 the service here is top notch from the second you pull into the valet.
