   We had a splendid evening here. The food tasted fabulous and the service was first class. I am very glad this restaurant has come back to life.

   Quality of the food is really excellent. Couldn’t fault any of the courses. Staff friendly, courteous and attentive. Probably need to expand the wine list - limited choice and some on the list unavailable. Otherwise great meal at good value. Definitely be back.

   Food very tasty, however we were surprised with a set menu which wasn’t online. The menu was very limited and missing many of their amazing starters and pastas. Service was very rushed , within 2 minutes of seating down we were asked for full order including dessert. Within 30 minutes we finished 2 courses.

   Not the ‘Unicorn’ of old. I’d give them some credits for finding their feet etc with a recent opening. But I’m sad to say it was a poor imitation of what the unicorn used to be. Limp. Food was decent. And they tried. But it just felt like a place that will be gone out of business in a few weeks. Which is very hard and sad to say, as I was thrilled and excited to see the unicorn reopen. I hope they can pull it together, i really do. But between 8 of us this evening it was a 2 out of 5. Sorry. I really hope you can pull it together.

   We always liked Unicorn , the food was good and reasonably priced. It was convenient on a rugby match day to call for lunch or dinner. So we were pleased when we heard it had recently reopened. Our meal was decent , nothing special and reasonably priced. The restaurant was busy mostly with expectant rugby fans but overall it was a disappointing experience. The restaurant looks dowdy , tired and uninspiring. Seems like someone dusted the place down and washed the floors but little else. Whilst the staff were efficient and courteous the whole place lacked soul and there was no reason to hang about once we had our meal. We arrived at 2.20pm and were completely finished by 3pm. Hopefully Unicorn will listen to the feedback and maybe in the future we will give it another try but not anytime soon unfortunately.

   Walked into a very warm welcome from a lovely bubbly lady. We had one meat eater and one vegetarian scallops were fantastic, burrata was very good , steak again fantastic & they did a super veggie pasta off menu for me. Service was just ok apart from main lady she was amazing. Atmosphere was super with the restaurant joining in on a happy birthday for the next table. The only negative it was absolutely freezing many ladies had jackets over shoulders. We were seated at a fire exit which was so breezy maybe heavy curtains might help. We definitely will be back hopefully they get the heating sorted.

    Expectations relatively low having seen the mixed bag of reviews. Overall it was ok but has some way to go if it is to survive at the level the pricing aspires to. Service was awful save for when the manager himself was doing it. He was chatty, attentive and engaging without being intrusive. The others on the floor were either invisible or pushy. Dishes of hake and beef as mains were excellent. The scallop starter was super. The carpaccio was abominable and unworthy of the description. It was poorly tenderised steak covered in overpowering rocket leaves rather than carpaccio. Desserts of lemon pie and a chocolate/ pistachio medley hit the mark. Wine options good and fairly priced. Worth a second visit in some months to see how they evolve.
