Located in the beautiful historic village of Thorpe Thewles, just off the A177 between Stockton-on-Tees and Sedgefield, The Vane Arms is a stunning recently-refurbished restaurant offering high quality bistro style dishes with a twist on traditional pub classics.

Our focus is on serving the best available ingredients that our team of highly skilled chefs can transform into show-stopping, delicious dishes that are perfect for both special occasions and casual dining, complemented by a thoughtfully curated wine list and drinks menu.

In the summer months, our beautiful garden offers the option of enjoying your meal outside with fantastic views, and we recently created a private dining space packed with traditional character ideal for parties and celebrations.

Staff were polite and courteous however service was really slow. Didn't seem to be enough staff. The food was nice although the coconut rice that came with the salmon was overcooked. Asked for the dessert menu however we got fed up of waiting. Also asked for the card machine to pay. That didn't arrive neither.

Really nice Sunday lunch today. Food was amazing. Service was also really good. Couldn’t fault them at all.

The staff were very pleasant and keen to please. We waited a while for our second course, when I approached one of the waiting staff she was very amenable and soon after our food arrived. The place was busy as it was Teeside Restaurant Week but the food was well presented, tasty and the portions large. We took home our desert, which was no trouble to the staff and was well packed up. We were in the conservatory which was quiet, though the main area was noisy and quite hot. A lovely ambience and good experience all round, thank you.

From the minute we walked in, the head waiter and all table staff were excellent at making sure our every need was met. The food was top notch And everybody in our party loved their chosen meals. Perfect!!! This restaurant consistently offers a wonderful dining experience , always superb x

Cosy pub, set up for eating, and in a lovely atmosphere. Food choice and quality qas excellent, waited on by chatty and pleasant staff. Worth recommending ro others

Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent service from booking to table. Food was superb, served hot, good mix of vegetables (Sunday dinner), well cooked. Very generous portions. Chef sent us complimentary extra side dishes which was really appreciated. Haven’t ever had anything but delicious food here. Lovely friendly atmosphere, hard working staff. Definitely 5 out of 5 Will be back again soon.

The service was really poor, we were there for nearly 3 hours - having to wait far too long for starters and main course then desert.
