This grand venue, which is situated just off the east end of Princes Street in Edinburgh, could be described as part 1930's speakeasy, and part artsy-Edinburgh bistro. Dressed up with glossy fittings in a historic building on West Register Street – we love the molded ceilings, black leather booths and the dark gothic-glamour edge - The Voodoo Rooms is a super spot for special nights out with friends or colleagues. The venue regularly hosts live bands and events (so we suggest booking dinner in earlier slots as later gig noise can sometimes be intrusive), and the restaurant has an impressive brasserie-style menu and an award-winning selection of cocktails.

We came here for our 10th Wedding Anniversary having been here on our last visit. The staff where very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. We both thoroughly enjoy our meals.

This was our second visit to the voodoo rooms to celebrate our anniversary which we were really looking forward to. Unfortunately this time the service was absolutely appalling, the waiter took ages to ask if we wanted drinks, then just pretty much dumped a bottle of wine and glasses on the table and walked off, I've not been out for a meal where they dont even open the bottle for you, let alone pour it. The food came after a long wait and again was pretty much dumped on the table, the attitude of the waiter was so bad but then he was more interested in joining his loud obnoxious friends sat in the centre table where he joined them for tequila slammers shouting and swearing at the top of his voice and rallying around them getting their cocktails. They were so loud lots of other tables were turning round looking at them. The waiter took no notice of our table to ask if everything was alright, or if we wanted more drinks. We sat waiting so long to ask for the bill that in the end I just got up and walked round the corner to ask. When he finally came back to take our payment I asked for the service charge to be removed as I said the service was appalling. Instead of apologising or asking what the problem was he just turned even more rude and aggressive and said well it's only £6.50. My point was it wasnt how much it was but I'm not paying a service charge for pretty much being treat like we were getting in the way of him and his mates all night. The food was lovely and the other waiter who came to our table twice was great but unfortunately the guy who was our main waiter was up there with being one of the most rude arrogant people I've ever met. We went on to another two bars after, I'm pleased to say the service was fantastic.

An atmospheric and laidback restaurant . Food was lovely but could have been a lot better . Perhaps it was just too busy or short staffed

Gorgeous decor. Incredibly slow unfortunately. We’d been in the restaurant for 1 hour 20 mins before food arrived. Portions a bit on the mean side.

The setting and atmosphere was fine, albeit the decoration was a little confusing. The service was also a little inconsistent and rushed... we asked for some vinegar and was served vinegar in a Saracens old plastic bottle, with broken lid... the service did not match the customer which The Voodoo Room was hoping to attract...

Excellent food, creative appetizers. I loved it, will make a point of returning here on our next trip to Edinburgh.

I thoroughly enjoyed eating at this restaurant & the drinking the cocktails. It was all delicious and well worth trying out. The staff were friendly & professional. The vibe in the place was good, we even chatted to another couple on the next table, it was so nice & relaxed.
