Medium steak was far too salty, staff kindly took it back but came back rare and still salty, chips were undercooked, fish pie was salty and milky, no spices, no flavours, fish and chips, fish was soaked in oil and the chips were salty and again undercooked, chicken bites were undercooked, halloumi bites were ok, wine list was perfect and to the point, sticky toffee was lovely, cheesecake was overpowered with some kind of caramel sauce and soggy biscuits on top of it, service was perfect, warm welcome as ever.

The moment we walked into the bar downstairs, Walmer Castle was like a warm hug. We were ushered upstairs to our table. What a beautiful dining room. Fabulous decor, tables clean and pretty flowers, the fires were roaring. Staff were amazingly friendly, smiley and very helpful. The food was beautiful. It's quintessentially English and we can't wait to return. We started with an house salad (maybe needed more dressing), bread and house-made butter - delicious. Fish pie was full of chunky pieces of fish and came with a side of broccoli, steamed to perfection. We also had a side of savoy cabbage with bacon on the side - it was well seasoned and had lots of butter added. Delicious. Espresso martini and a martini with a lemon twist to start - both yummy! Followed by a bottle of rose from Provence with dinner. This is a hidden gem in the heart of Notting Hill.

Chicken roast was too petite, they didn’t have a chicken breast so they replaced it with the smallest chicken thigh you can imagine, Lamb Sunday roast was very cold and blubbery, hardly any meat, vegetables were super tasty as was the gravy, hummus with sumac was interesting to say the least, sticky toffee pudding was delicious, wine list to the point despite the fact that my rose bottle was served room temperature, glamorous ambience for a Sunday night, good music, service was excellent, warm welcome.

I have eaten there several times but today the veg roast and entree portions were very small. I was very disappointed with the food portion sizes.

Very disappointing. The worst Sunday roast I had in my life. Meat was literally raw and very chewy, not to mention we had to wait for at least 40 min. Ended up with incorrect bill which I luckily checked.

Attentive service, great food at a reasonable price, good choices on menu. Party of three, we all had different starters and mains, all reported as delicious. I especially liked my lamb belly starter. It was a very busy Saturday night so the bar down stairs was extremely busy, ruling out a pre-dinner drink. I would recommend and will return in future.

I had the beautiful Beef because I felt I should, at least once😌 Thankfully it was Cheat Day 😏 But I’m excited to try the delicious sounding Veggie Wellington next time 😜 Patrick had the gorgeous Pork Belly 😉 For dessert we shared the Biscoff Cheesecake which I gotta say still makes my mouth water thinking about each silky spoonful 🤤

A great find staying up in Notting Hill. Downstairs bar area is popular and crowded so upstairs dining was a pleasant, quiet atmosphere. Cuisine and attention made it a special experience. A little pricey but a memorable evening.
